We stopped for a cone for dessert after dinner one evening at their main shop just out of town. The flavors were all good and unlike last year, at least they were frozen and not soupy. It is quite expensive, but okay for a once-in-awhile treat. Unfortunately, their sister shop (the scoop shop) in downtown Sister Bay was not as positive of an experience for us. We stopped for a late night snack on Friday evening as a treat on our last night. We arrived at 9:55 with a long line out the door of the tiny scoop shop. My son and I waited in line (they close at 10pm) next to the loud bar scene right next door. We looked for a flavor list to make our choice while waiting but there wasn't any...we looked everywhere, which is important because during that perusal nowhere was there a sign indicating they took cash only. So, we got to the front of the line (there were still people behind us) and we ordered one double scoop waffle cone to share. The people in front of us were told there were only two waffle cones left, so we were excited to get one of them. The cone was scooped and rung up, I handed over my debit card and was rudely told they only accept cash. I had $4 on me and my cone was more than that. I certainly didn't expect to get a free cone, but do you know what the kid did? He tossed the cone in the trash (remember now, it was the last waffle cone) and started helping the next guest - are you kidding me? Where did good customer service go? They rely on tourists that won't be repeat customers, but I hope someone reads this and chooses to walk two doors down to the creamery for their ice cream instead of stopping here!
