“Like Staying With Family - Excellent !”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 21, 2007

Stayed here last week for two nights. We found the stay to be the best we had had all week (we had stayed in four hotels previously) in fact we were only due to be there one night but after meeting the proprietor and seeing our room and the B & B surrounds we decided to add an extra night.

There are only 5 rooms, we stayed in one at the right at the top of the stairs and it was like staying in our own mini apartment. The room with the main double bed was very large with large high bed, beautiful old dressing table, large tea/coffee area, sofa and tv & video on a large old set of drawers.

Our second room adjacent and was a dressing area/second bedroom, which would be useful for a child but large enough for an adult with its extensive wardrobes and fireplace.

Then the bathroom, large deep old bath with shower attachment, wonderfully decorated with its own bookcase full of books!

Breakfast was amazing, we sat in a large elegant dining room at a large table with the other guests and had a choice of either cereals & cooked foods. Being a vegetarian I was unable to appreciate the full English but my partner tells me it was one of the best he'd had and very fresh.

The house was set in a farm and it was lovely to be surrounded by the cows and horses. The grounds were available to walk around and were beautiful. We also had the use of a large snooker table.

All in all we would definitely 100% visit again, Highly recommended.

I booked 3 rooms at this B&B near Silverstone Race circuit. Each room was individual, very clean and comfortable. Breakfast was a delight in the spendid dinning room with fruit, cereal and full english fry up on the menu.

Good pubs and resturants nearby to eat and drink.

I will be staying again, great value and a stunning old farm house.

The Potcote is a very charming B&B. My Fiance and I stayed there with my in-laws because I had booked a driving experience for my fiance's 29th birthday at Silverstone. We arrived on the Saturday about 1:00 in the afternoon and after being totally impressed by the views of the countryside and the beauty of the outside of the house we were shown to our rooms. There are 5 rooms in all and my fiance and I had the best room. We stayed in a room with a double bed and there was another bedroom with a single bed down a couple of steps which also led to the bathroom (the room would be good for Mum & Dad with a child). Both the room and the bathroom were great in size and very comfortable. My in-laws stayed in another double room and they also had their own en suite facilities, although their bathroom was outside of their room but you could shut the door at the end of the corridoor, so in effect you had your own little flat! Both rooms had tea, coffee, chocolate making facilities and hairdyers. Helena the owner had also left a couple of chocolate bars for us.

Unless you like walking, you do have to have a car. You can get to a lovely country pub and an indian restaurant within a 15-20 minute walk for lunch or an evening meal. There's no street lighting though so take a torch. During the day, the four us sat in the gardens looking out on the views in the grounds at the B&B and drank Pimms we had bought from Tesco's about 10 minutes drive away. There were no other guests staying so we had the garden tables and chairs to ourselves. I'm not sure if the owners intend you to use the garden furniture to hang out in but they didn't seem to mind. There are lot's of places to see if you don't want to laze around in the grounds and Helena provides lot's of leaflets on places to go. We however wanted to get away from a very busy work schedule and have a very relaxing stay, so we just chilled out.

There's an indoor pool at the B&B which the owners use but it is open to all guests. It's heated so it can get very hot in the building where the pool is. If you like chess, there's an outdoor man size chess set.

Before we left for silverstone on the Sunday morning, Helena cooked us a great english breakfast (one of the best I've had) which we took in the dining room and drank tea from teacups!. What I loved about breakfast is all condiments came in proper china bowls with silver spoons, rather than plastic pots of jam and butter! It was all very elegant but very relaxed and informal.

We would definitely go back to the Potcote if we were going back to Northampton. The only thing guests should clarify before they go is the time they wish to have breakfast and the check out time. Whilst the owners will ask you what time you want breakfast, you have to remember the B&B is a working farm so what might seem early to you for a sunday, i.e 10am, this is quite late for them! However saying all of that, Helena did accommodate our request and we had breakfast for 10:00am.

I would like to end on a positive note, rather than going on about the time of breakfast! The house, grounds and views at Potcote are extremely beautiful and the owners very friendly and accommodating. Once the owners have you settled, the owners just leave you to it, unless you want or need anything. We could have done so much more on the Saturday we arrived but we set out to do what we had planned, which was to relax and enjoy the fantastic views of the countryside.

Highly recommended.
