I visited with my husband and two children, ages 2 and 10, as well as extended family for a reunion over the Fourth of July weekend. We were part of a large group and had 7 rooms between 101 and 119, all facing east and had a beautiful view of the lake, pool, and putting green & bocce ball areas. This stretch of rooms was perfect for our gathering, as we all just walked out the patio doors and hung out outside after dinner each night. From there, we even had a perfect view of the amazing fireworks on the 4th. A few of us went for morning jogs along the lake & harbor paths, but you have to be careful along the harbor where the path is very poorly maintained. The beachfront area was perfect for our family photos.
The kids in our group, ages 1 to 10, all had a ball in both the water park area and pool. The main thing I found disappointing was that adults weren't allowed to ride along with a toddler on the small slide. My daughter wanted to go down the little kids' slide, but was too afraid to go alone. A few of us had the Kid Aquarium Suites, and while the kids enjoyed them, they felt a lot less spacious than the Family Suites, and the bathroom area was much smaller in the Aquarium room. Also, the bathroom sink is right across from the bunk bed area, which was a bit problematic for us due to having a very light sleeping 2 year-old. We ventured out of the resort to the Above & Beyond children's museum for a few hours and weren't terribly impressed, but for the cost, it is sufficient for kids under age 5, and we had the place almost completely to ourselves.
Several of us visited the spa and were happy with our experience. My husband would recommend Josie for a massage. Three of us also had our nails done, and although they couldn't accommodate us at the same time, we were all able to schedule back-to-back appointments, and they allowed us to all go at the same time to chat while we received our manis & pedis. We even brought in a glass of wine from the bar!
We had buffet breakfast and plated dinner at Latitude every day, and the staff was friendly and accommodating overall. I personally enjoyed breakfast on the patio the best. The view was wonderful, and it really felt like vacation. The food wasn't impressive, but I did love the fact that buffet for under age 3 was free, since our daughter is very unpredictable at meal times and doesn't always eat much.
All in all, it was a memorable stay in a picturesque location with friendly staff, and we are already talking about a repeat visit next summer!
