“Travel Disaster!”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed August 10, 2014

We arrived at 3:45 and checked in with the rather surly, uncommunicative teenage boy at the front office. When we unlocked our room we found it hadn't been cleaned from the previous guests. We reported this to the kid, who said "We were really full yesterday and it's early so the cleaners just didn't get to it yet." It was 45 minutes past check-in time but this fact didn't seem to matter to him. He told us it would be ready in 20 minutes. We returned at 7:00 to find the room still a mess. The teenage host was completely flummoxed by this news, made a phone call, said someone would come to clean it. By this time we were no longer interested in staying and asked for a refund. The kid told us we should go to the motel restaurant and ask to speak to a manager. This manager did immediately agree to the refund, but his apology was weak and he told us "There are plenty of other places to stay in Sheboygan." Well, when I booked the room six weeks in advance, it was actually the last room with two beds that I was able to find in the area. We simply cancelled our plans to spend the next day in Sheboygan and went home. I really didn't mind, as the glimpse we had of the accommodations was not promising at all. Just a remarkable experience in bad management and poor hospitality.

When we checked into this motel, the toilet seat in our room was broken and fixed with scotch tape. Also there was poop smeared all over the seat. We had to go to front desk twice to get enough towels for the three of us in the room. When we complained the night clerk stated that the manager would talk to us to compensate us some way for the appalling conditions we encountered. We were there two nights and when we checked out I asked to see the manager but was told he was too busy. We will never stay at this motel again!

Room Tip: Do not stay unless you have no choice.

We recently completed our third one-week stay at Fountain Park Motel and it was wonderful as always. The room was clean and quiet, the staff friendly, the Fountain Park Restaurant food delicious and a bargain. We walked in the park across the street and through the downtown, literally around the corner. We highly recommend this budget-priced, unpretentious place to stay.

This is an early 1960s motor hotel. The bathrooms are classic mid-century modern with original fixtures and tilework that is well preserved and spotless. The bedroom had two double beds, newer carpet a desk and a huge entertainment center thing that takes up a lot of space and dominates the room. The furniture monstrosity has a fridge in it and a 1990s tv on it. Good value. This room (#118) was smell neutral (sadly unusual in a hotel less than $ 100 these days) which was a pleasant surprise since during my last stay I was in a different room (110) that smelled of dude (pits and body spray)(Think it was the bedspreads). Wish they had an iron and a microwave for the business traveler on a tight budget trying not to dine out. One could grill at the park across the street i guess during the summer. Disconcerting that they make guests sign a code of conduct each visit. A bargain that would gain a star with a little tweaking.

The rooms were neat and clean, and the staff was friendly and helpful. we stayed here for the 110th Harley anniversary party which was in Milwaukee about an hour away, the nights were quiet and peaceful here, and the restaurant was out standing, we really enjoyed our stay and the price for what we got was excellent. at one point i needed to jump start my bike and the staff was more than helpful lending me a set of cables to get started. We would definately stay here again.
