“Wonderful stay”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 6, 2010

This B&B is situated between Queenstown and Arrowtown, which is very convenient. The B&B itself is a former hotel est. around 1870 and has a lovely garden and a beautiful surrounding. The room we stayed in had an ensuite, was spacious and very nice. We can only say one word regarding the breakfast: "perfect". Everything you want can be found. When you enter the livingroom, the fireplace is already burning which gives you a feeling like being home.
Glenys and Kevin are very friendly persons and they do everything in order to make your stay a perfect one. And they succeed.
We've also got to mention Buckely, their Springer Spaniel, the friendliest dog you'll ever meet. Take him for a walk and you're friends forever.

We rented the Ferry house for the family as a whole house during low season. It was fantastic! We travelled with 4 children and it was so nice to return from a day of skiing to a warm fire and a friendly greeting. The location is excellent and would work well if you are flying into Queenstown. We also visited the museum at Arrowtown but found we had already learnt a lot about the local history from the clippings and info that Kevin had collected around the house. The house was immaculate and brekkie to die for.

We had a perfect stay at Ferrys and our toddlers enjoyed it a lot. Boys had a wonderful time whether it was playing games indoor or walking down the river and still remember Buckley, the famous dog. Glenys was so welcoming to the boys and helped them with some games. When we come back, there's no other place we are going to stay than The Ferry and if we have to recommend anybody, this is the place to stay. Glenys was helpful in giving us information about all the activities. To sum it all we had a wonderful stay with lots of good memories:)

Stayed for a few days with my wife while we explored Queenstown.
Found the B&B to be superb - real old world, close enough to the town to take advantage and just outside to enjoy the peacefulness of the countryside - night sky to die for.
Loved the walks with Buckley the dog :)
Glenys and her husband Kevin were just great - if we get the chance we will definitely call back. Cannot rate highly enough, if you are going to the region and want a great place to stay here you go.

Booked one night, ended up staying for three. The Ferry Hotel is a stunning building in a beautiful location.

When we arrived, Glenys took one look at me (I'm 6'4") and switched our room to one with a bigger bed. She and Kevin are excellent hosts - there when you need them, but giving you plenty of space to relax. They organised canyoning for us and told us about wineries and other things to do.

Their location is excellent - away from the crush of Queenstown on a small road facing the Shotover River. The oft-mentioned dog Buckley is the community favourite by the looks - he gets four walks a day and is still happy to have more. Very well-trained dog who won't impose on you if you don't want it.

My wife & I stayed for 2 nights on 2/3 February 2009 & were immediately welcomed like old friends & made to feel very comfortable. The superb location of the Ferry, the fascinating history of the old inn & Buckley the dog made the stay unforgettable. We hope we will be lucky enough to go back one day.
