“Fantastic views, Handy tranquil location and excellent service”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 17, 2011

After deciding to travel to Queenstown for a skiing weekend we decided to stay at Manata Lodge because of its excellent proximity to the remarkables ski fields. we found the enquiry process painless and the various package options explained well, once we booked we also had a rental car and ski pass arranged by the accomodating host . The 2 bedroom self contained apartment is roomy tastfully decorated.
Warm ,dry and very homely.
The kitchen is spacious and well equiped and view over the Remarkables mountain range is simply that.
Allround a genuine Five star experience and I will definatly book again.
Cheers Phil,

It's a place that combines nature, tranquility and elegance and it was one of the best places inhabited by me and my family and I love to draw special thanks to Philip, who helped us and gave us his services for the duration of residence

I did a Fjordland package through Manata - two nights at Manata, then an overnight trip with Fjordland Expeditions to Doubtful Sound, a day trip to Milford with Mitre Peak Cruises, with four day car hire. Everything about it was great - Manata itself (so comfortable - slept 12 hours the first night!), the choice of operators for the trips, and the pitch-perfect assistance from Phillip. It was a great deal, and I had a wonderful time. A real find - Phillip really knows what he's doing. I'd put myself in his hands again at the drop of a hat.

We were a group of five Mums wanting to get away for a long weekend and found our host Phillip to be extremely obliging. He was our chauffer, our chef (well, he cooked us a beautiful breakfast on our last day), our wine tour guide, and our local expert recommending places to eat, drink and see. We had the two apartments that were interconnected and this worked well giving us all the space and beds we needed. Everything was clean and wonderfully presented, the beds were very comfortable and the views were to die for. Would recommend to everyone.

When we arrived at Manata Lodge we were very pleasantly surprised. We were met by Philip who immediately told us we had been upgraded and took us to an amazing apartment. It was very well equipped and spotlessly clean. Outside was a comfortable porch area and a really beautiful garden. At all times Philip was always ready to assist and even organised my washing for me! We thought it was excellent value for money and would not hesitate to recomment to friends.

Philip was a great host and we really enjoyed our night here. We wish we would have extended our stay here because Queenstown was by far our favorite city in New Zealand (and New Zealand is an amazing country). This is a perfect place to escape to lush gardens, plush, modern, and cozy rooms, and to access Queenstown.

They have a nice laundry facility which helped us to have clean clothes for the rest of the trip. Philip was kind enough to prepare us a fantastic breakfast very early since we had to depart at 7:00 AM to make our cruise time in Milford Sound.

I tried giving them 4.5 stars but it won't let me do it. The only half star was because they charge for internet which we find a little much considering the cost of accomodation. Several places in New Zealand charge for internet access but most travelers feel that this is excessive - especially considering were sightseeing and not using the internet most of the time (only to check email and ensure our cruise was still going).

I would definitely highly recommend this place to anyone and just recommend that Philip reconsider charging for the internet. Other than that, this place is perfect.

Hi!

Thanks so much for your review, it was great having such lovely people stay and we really appreciate your feedback.

Regarding the internet, so others know as well, we charge $10NZD per day for unlimited WiFi access. Many places charge up to $25NZD per day for less access so we offer pretty good value for money. I would love it to be free, but we have to pay the bills somehow! If you're visiting and just want to check a few emails then i'll only charge you for one day. Its important you let us know these things so you don't feel ripped off! We're more than happy to accommodate individual needs.

Cheers and we hope your memories of NZ & Manata stay with you forever :)

Phillip
