“West coast to midwest and back”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed December 27, 2011

We took a road trip in Sept/Oct of 2011 and stayed at seven different hotels. The prices ranged from $67 to $145 a night. The Best Western Plus were the best value, as they were in good repair and clean. They also had a continental breakfast that compared to the higher priced stays. Here is how I would rate this particular hotel. This place clean enough and adequate (small room). The breakfast was cereal, bread and pastries and looked grocery store bought. We were expecting a bit more (no fridge) for the $82 a night. We will probably venture else where next time.

We were in town for thanksgiving with my wife's family, and decided to try this hotel instead of our usual haunts at the Super 8, the Mariott, and the Radisson. I booked a rate of 42$ per night for three nights over the hotel's website, which was comparable to the other 2 star hotels in the area.

I want to stress that while the hotel itself is awful, the staff were nothing but cheerful and helpful. Upon going to our first room, not only did we discover it was tiny as anything, it also had a vague odd smell to it, like previous smoking covered up with powerful air freshener. I say first room because we discovered our telephone was non-functional, which resulted in us moving next door to a second room. The phone in that room was at least functional, despite the piece of tape that was holding the wires in place.

This theme repeats itself throughout the entire hotel room. Everything seems slightly damaged, or slightly not working. The TV remote was dead, and the TVs themselves were ancient, tiny Magnavoxes that've probably been around for 20 years. The bedding had many holes in it, one of our towels was completely torn, and that same odd, unpleasant smell permeated this room as well. If you have allergies, I would definitely not stay at this hotel.

There was no hairdryer, which was an unpleasant surprise, and a tiny disc of facial soap is the extent of the amenities present in the bathroom. The tiny size of the room was not much of an issue, but everything feels cheap, from the lack of bedside lamps, to the nonfunctioning appliances, to the creaky, cheap chairs and desks. In both rooms we were in using the heater caused an unpleasant smell of burning dust to compete head to head with the already smelly room.

The continental breakfast was nothing to write home about, a standard collection of grocery store starches and stale cereal. While the location of the hotel in town is theoretically nice, being near all the major shopping, in reality getting in and out of the hotel parking lot is a chore due to it being on a divided median road, necessitating a roundabout route to get back in from going one direction down the street.

For all that was terrible about this place, their mattresses were at least not awful, although they were incredibly filthy under the non-fitted sheet.

In short I would not recommend staying at this hotel. While they are cheap, it's most likely that you could get a comparable rate at the Super 8 across town, or for a little more money enjoy the comforts of the Mariott or the Radisson. Spend a few more pennies, and avoid this junkheap. We'll never be going back again.

Room Tip: Connecting rooms very small, don't book them

I stay here every year and have always found it to be safe, clean and very comfortable. It is a no frills stay, but they do offer free wi-fi, free local and long distance calls and a fitness room. The rooms are clean and very quiet. The beds offer a good night's rest. I recommend this great value to anyone considering a short stay in town.

My extended family lives in Racine, and we visit twice a year. This past summer was my third time staying in this hotel, and I have always been very pleased. It's clean, there are very friendly staff, the rooms are nice and are a perfect size. They allow dogs, so our little gal can travel with us. Also, there is a Target right across the street. I will book this hotel again and again as I continue to visit family in Racine. Plus, for the cleanliness and location, it's the best value in town.

Stayed here for 3 nights over Labor Day weekend. Paid about $60/night and thought it was a great value. I'd read mixed reviews so I was a little nervous, but we had no problems at all. The hotel is non-smoking but apparently people smoke in their rooms anyway (and get charged $250), and the first night smoke started coming into our room. The front desk was able to switch us to a different room and we had no problems after that. Rooms (both) were very clean, very clean bathrooms, nice sheets, decent bed, fine pillows. The front desk staff were extremely helpful the entire time. Not everything is the most up to date, but everything worked and was kept up. Free coffee and tea 24 hours in the lobby, microwave there, ice machine. Breakfast was good -- donuts, bagels, cereal. We were very pleased with our stay, no complaints at all.

We have family in Racine and stay quite often. We've always used this hotel (used to be a Microtel). It used to be a great value with it's low rates and clean accomodations. A no frills but comfortable place. The last few times (since it's changed names), the trips have been getting worse. The prices seem to go up every time we come back and there are no updates being made to the rooms. The room we stayed in had a broken toilet seat, hard water stained toilet bowl, horribly old and uncomfortable mattress, and only soap was given in the bathrooms (they didn't even offer shampoo!). This was the LAST time we are spending our money at that hotel. I was actually on here to find which hotel we wanted to try next and felt as though I should write this review.

We come from south of France and we can say that this hotel is a wonderful place to have a good rest. Room very clean, bed and breakfast perfect. The staff is really thoughtful.
We recommend it.
