“Excellent Fish Fry!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 20, 2014 via mobile

Went for the Friday fish fry. Disappointed that they were out of the catfish, but the cod was very good. Very lightly battered. Wife had hers broiled and loved it. Some of the staff were excellent; others, such as our server, spent the whole night looking harried. Would certainly return if in the area.

“A GREAT find along the Mississippi River!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 17, 2014

The Friday night fish fries are great but I like the regular menu during the week. It is a local, mom and pop type restaurant, with great service and the food is quite good. It is your typical Wisconsin fish fry bar/restaurant.

“BEST FRIDAY NIGHT FISH FRY EVER!!!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 12, 2014

The owners may have changed the decor in the place for the better, but the food remains the same - GREAT!!! We don't go out very often, but if we want fish on a Friday night, Spring Lake is my first choice for the area. Beware - it gets VERY busy, but if you aren't in a rush and want really good food, it's worth the wait! The staff is super friendly and knowledgeable since most of them have worked there for MANY years. I generally order the broiled cod special. It comes with french fries and coleslaw and dinners come with a relish tray for the table and rolls. The portions are plenty, especially when it's all you can eat fish! The deep fried cod is also VERY good - I usually order that for any "refills" on my fish because it is quicker. For $9.95, I'm amazed at the value and it's clear why they are busy. They are not open on Mondays.

“Old Wisconsin charm”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed November 21, 2013

We stopped for a weekday lunch, so can't comment on the weekend rib specials. The place is the kind of bar/restaurant my dad loved--and that has been replaced by all the Denny's, Culver's, and Subways. We ate in the room to the right of the bar, and sat near the window that looks out on the bluff behind the building. Just outside the window were 4 or 5 bird feeders, so we had mealtime entertainment. Since we ordered lunch entrees (not just salads or sandwiches), we began with the relish tray--celery, carrots, peppers, olives, green onions, a little cup of ham spread. I had not seen that for twenty years at least! Our meals--ribs, peel and eat shrimp, and stroganoff (the day's special)--were all fine. The guys had Wisconsin beers. Service was competent and speedy.

“Prime rib Saturday night is fabulous”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 13, 2013

Go early. They start serving dinner at 4:00. We got there about 5:00 and finally got seated around 6:00 for dinner. We ordered the small portion and it filled the plate with little room for the potato. This is the best prime rib I've ever had and cooked perfectly. It came with a salad and dinner roll. We also had a platter of veggies and crackers with a ham spread too. You will not leave hungry. The place is fairly small and people are everywhere but well worth the wait. It's under new ownership now but all the staff are the same. The outside of the building has gotten a face lift and looks really nice. The inside is unchanged. No need to dress up but do not wear anything tight waisted...just say'in.
