“Irish Hospitality in Rural Wisconsin”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed May 27, 2013

Just like you stepped back in time in old Ireland. The rooms are small but functional, bathroom was very roomy. Be prepared to carry your luggage upstairs. Breakfast was delicious. Great bar and restaurant area. A step above the boring chain hotels in the area.

Room Tip: Room #11 was nice, nice tv and large bathroom.

My husband and I stayed here for two nights and it was very peaceful. The inn itself is beautiful with old-world Irish charm. The staff were extremely friendly, especially the hostess and waitresses. The food at the restaurant for dinner and the included (free) breakfast were all outstanding. We had the shepherds pie, the rum chicken and the Guinness brownie. The inn was close to a creek which was very nice for an after--dinner stroll. We would recommend this inn for a nice, peaceful retreat.

Room Tip: Room 4 was in the bottom level, near an exit door and was very quiet. TV was extremely old, but with...

This place is a gem! Very Irish in it's furnishing's and theme. The restaurant which is on the main floor has delicious & authentic Irish fare with a very well stocked bar. A full breakfast comes free if your an overnight guest. The rooms are quaint and charming. A very good coffee shop is located next door. This is my third time staying here and i can't wait to return for a 4th,5th, oh well you, get the picture!

My husband stayed many times at the Stafford when he was working. After retirement we have been here several times and also brought friends with us to enjoy the little bit of peace and quiet in a quaint WI town. The Inn has been around for a very long time but still maintains a lovely, quiet existence with their quaint rooms, beautiful bathrooms and fantastic food. It is run like an Irish Inn and the restaurant is very hightly rated. 20 years ago we always raved about the dinners and breakfast here and today we find a younger chef but the excellence is still there and the food is artfully and deliciously prepared.

Plymouth itself is a quiet town based on the dairy industry but close enough to antique stores, country jaunts, Lake Michigan, Shebogan and Manitowoc to have plenty to pass the time. If you are looking for a little weekend get away, go to the Stafford. The rooms are quiet, staff friendly, and food good. The Irish Pub is a great place for a Guinness or an Irish cider. It is decorated in the authentic stainded glass windows and dark wood. Although the hotel is not as busy as it use to be before the recession, it is still a lovely place to relax and regroup for your busy life.

Room Tip: The rooms on the front are a bit brighter. There are 3 floors and no elevator and be sure to ask for...

The old hotel lends itself to an inn atmosphere. The bar is set slightly away from the dining area and is warm and cozy with an excellent selection of beer and bourbon. The menu offers traditional Irish fare and more. We were pleased that the sauce on the two dishes we ordered was light and tasty and did not overwhelm the seafood/chicken. Breakfast is very good as well offering omelets, sausage, hash, french toast, yogurt, cereal, pastries. The inn is older but clean with large uncluttered rooms that have four poster queen beds. The furnishings are comphy and the tubs are whirlpools. This is a good central place to stay while exploring the area including Kohler and Sheboygan Falls and Elkart Lake. These towns have many restaurants, shops, parks and other activities to keep one busy. Many things to do during all seasons. The staff is super friendly.

Room Tip: room #8 has a porch. Room #9 is larger and has a 4-5 window bay that gives lots of light, a sitting...

We have been going to 52 Stafford for 23 years. We started on our First Anniversary. It has been a fav place of ever since. Going there for St. Patrick's Day is a Blast. We are from Chicago so we can only do St. Patrick's Day when it starts hitting the weekend, but it is so much fun. We also stay here for the Kohler Food & Wine Weekend as it is only a 15 minute drive or sometimes we take a cab..."Crabby Cab". The rooms are really quaint and very clean. I agree the TV's could be updated, but we are not there to watch too much TV anyway. Love the double bath. I think we have stayed in every room and our fav rooms are either in the lower level or the 3rd floor...a beautiful view from the 3rd floor. Over the years we have taken our family members here to celebrate many things (we were the 7 White sweatshirts one year for St. Paddy's Day) and sometimes just to get away for the weekend. The Bar is beautiful and the bartenders are so friendly and very funny...plus they remember us. The food is wonderful and plentiful...some of the best corned hash I've had. The wait staff and front desk staff are very friendly, warm and inviting. One time in particular we were able to check in early and we were the only ones there as they closed for a few hours in the afternoon...we were able to sit in the front dining area and relax and read and our dog was able to sit up there with us...they even let him sit on the couch in the front dining area...This is our go to place to get away from the Big City. We have made friends that live in Plymouth and we always look for them when we are there.

52 Stafford...We thank you, Carrie & Mike

My wife and I have been going to Plymouth annually for a winter-sports get-away. It's walking distance from a great family friendly skating pond and minutes away from Greenbush, (also known as "Nordic Heaven", one of the best, if not the best ski trail system in southern Wisconsin). Plymouth is a charming little town with an old-style downtown dotted with antique shops, book shops as well as a fantastic arts center. While the town also has a lot of lovely cafe's and restaurants, you can't do much better than just staying for the meals and drink at the 52 Stafford. You can usually find a coupon on their website with a great break on Dinner with your room and a full breakfast (eggs, sausage, pastry and more) is always included. Most of the rooms have whirlpools which is great after a day on the ski trails. We were fortunate this year to arrive there on a Wednesday when they have an Irish music jam session. Amazing to find such a treasure in a little town like this. The 52-Stafford is an Irish-style B&B with Irish menu items, Irish beers on tap and obviously a magnet for some of the best Irish musicians in the area on Wednesday evenings.

Room Tip: Talk to the desk about your room. The upper floor rooms are quieter and offer more privacy, the fir...
