We've stayed at this property on past occasions too and always been satisfied with the facilities and the staff. This time we did notice a couple things about the room that caused us to take pause.
When we first tried to turn on the TV, all I could get was "snow". Even with my moderate knowledge of electronics, I was unable to figure it out. The maintenance man came to my rescue and advised that several of the cable boxes require you to press up channel several times to get to the usable channels. I felt kind of dumb until he told me it was a common issue with guests. I wondered aloud why if it was so common wasn't there a sign or some other form of notification on the TV or remote.
The mattress seemed a bit worn; kind of like several really large guests had been sleeping in the center of the king sized bed. Even though the mattresses were the "adjustable" kind, it did not seem to help compensate for the low spot in the center.
Although the scuffs and scrapes in the paint had been dutifully touched up, whoever picked out the paint was seriously color blind. I'm thinking the walls probably looked better before the new paint was applied.
The highlight for us was the breakfast. Entrée made to order and the extras available at the buffet. The server was very friendly and attentive. I don't know what the regular cost of the breakfast is as it's included in our stays.
All things considered, I will stay at the Hilton Garden Inn of Oshkosh again next time I'm in town.
