Hotels were booked, we gambled & lost...no wait, we WON! We were fortunate to find a room available at the Lumber Baron Inn & we're sold on B&B's now. We paid the same price as we would have paid for a much more slept-in, much less maintained room. Our room was very clean & comfortable & we were spared from kiddos running up & down the halls. We love kids & all but we've been there done that. We had open access to a stocked mini-refrigerator & snacks. We had a private bathroom & didn't see another couple until breakfast. Our 5-course breakfast was a far cry from powder eggs & Fruit Loops! The owners were very pleasant, as well as the other guests we met. If we're ever in the area again, we'll be back!

We stayed at the inn last week and are very happy that we did ! The house is beautiful .. bright, clean, thoughtfully composed with antiques, and situated on a beautiful piece of land overlooking the Mississippi. Ken and Sandy are super nice, very down-to-earth, and fun to chat with. Lots of extras like candy, snacks, and beverages. Both halves of "B & B" are done to perfection. We stayed in the attic suite and the king size bed was ultra-comfortable, the jacuzzi was very relaxing, and the view of the river from floor-to-ceiling windows was extra sweet. The breakfast, all 5 courses, was delicious and a truly fun experience. We are recommending the inn to all of our friends.

We stayed here for a weekend getaway in October 2011. The room was very comfortable and the inn is charming. The breakfasts were just amazing. The owners had several suggestions for dinner and were very friendly. There were so many little touches: cookies in the evening before bed, billiards table downstairs, magazines, bathrobes, and a refrigerator with soda. It has a lovely location on the Mississippi. A quick note: you can hear the freight trains go by near the river. We found it quite charming and part of the experience. If you are someone who needs absolute quiet, you might not enjoy it as much, but we hope to return to this charming location.

I cannot tell you how wonderful our stay here was! The house is lovely, our host and hostess gracious and helpful in telling us about where to eat dinner, and describing their home. It is restored to superb beauty. Our room was lovely and luxurious, with every amenity Breakfast in the morning was a culinary delight, with a variety of home-made treats. I will look forward to going there again!

This is a lovely bed and breakfast, with beautiful rooms and welcoming, comfortable, common areas. We had such a relaxing, quiet weekend here with friends, thanks to the graciousness of Ken and Sandy, the owners. Each room is unique, with cozy touches such as special soaps, bathrobes, magazines and thick towels. When we returned in the evenings, cookies were available in the parlor, and our comfortable beds were turned down with candies waiting on the nightstand. And the breakfast!!! Delicious, served to us in the dining room as if we were royalty, leisurely and filling. For a little pampering and relaxation, we highly recommend the Lumber Baron Inn.

My husband and I have stayed at the Lumber Baron Inn in Onalasa, Wisconsin at least twice a year for the past 15 years. In fact, Ken performed our marriage ceremony at the Lumber Baron Inn on June 10, 1995. The Lumber Baron Inn is a beautiful Victorian home on the Black River painstakingly restored by Ken and Sandy. The home is beautifully decorated and the rooms each have individual personalities. Breakfast is served in a dining room that can only be described as tastefully elegant. Breakfast is a five course meal that is presented with class. If you want to feel totally pampered, relaxed, and enjoy restful ambience, the Lumber Baron Inn is the B&B for you- I guarantee you will repeat your stay.
