“Scenic all the way!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 26, 2013

The trail is wooded for the entire length and near water for the most part. Very gentle grades for the minor hills on the route.

“Great River Trail”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 25, 2013

The trails in the area are excellent for walking, running, and biking. Very pretty and quiet. The only cost is if you are biking. It is $4 for a day pass.

“Nice, but pretty flat”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed November 17, 2013

This is a very nice trail 6 8 feet wide and graveled but it is a bit tedious as it is pretty much flat. After a couple of hours of riding the bike not sure I would go back?

“Nice trail but can be a little boring.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed November 14, 2013

The trail is very easy to ride on and you can catch glimpses of some nice views and some wildlife. Onalaska does have the least enjoyable path route connecting the 2 parking areas (the one by the library is usually filled with cars from the high school kids parking illegally during the school day), the alley way section is only about 3-4 blocks long and the street and highway crossings are pretty easy. The river/lake views heading north from the Onalaska area are also very limited due to the trees lining the river side of the trail. The trail has some neat bridges on the way to Trempealeau. Heading South from Onalaska, the trail splits to head towards West Salem/Bangor/Sparta on the main trail or right towards the downtown LaCrosse area including Riverside Park. The fall riding when the leaves are falling is spectacular. Bathroom facilities are limited, so plan accordingly. Cost of a season pass is $20.00 to ride a bike on the trail and the pass must be purchased before you ride.
