We really enjoyed staying here. Even though there were several guests, it was quiet and cozy. We were early, so we saw other rooms before they were occupied, and it is a beautiful place. I would agree that John's style is warm and casual, and that's ok with us. The dining room is lovely, the food was delicious, and John takes a few minutes to talk with each guest. We also enjoyed walking around Oconomowoc - we don't live that far away and still found it to be charming enough to feel like we were getting "away". The construction at the entrance and the winterization with the blue tarps do detract from the beauty of the property, hence I did not give it the top score. But sometimes things are a work in progress, so I still would not hesitate to recommend it.
