“Satisfying Lunch”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed November 8, 2013

We stopped here on a day-trip from Minneapolis to Wabasha. Across the bridge from Wabasha on the Wisconsin side is this sweet little diner in Nelson, situated directly below the twin bluffs. The food was well-prepared and reasonably priced, and the service was friendly. The restaurant was completely full when we arrived at 1:00 p.m. on a fall Saturday, but we were able to get a table within 15 minutes. There's nothing remotely trendy about the place, just good basic American fare. I had a grilled salmon sandwich with a side of potato salad, which was absolutely delicious, and my husband enjoyed the fish and chips. There was a tempting dessert menu, but we held out for the Stockholm Pie Company up the road.

“A pleasant stop along the Great River Road”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed September 4, 2012

It's namesake cliffs tower above behind the restaurant but also called "Beth's". Take the Great River Road (35) in Wisconsin in either direction and enjoy the scenery and small shops in towns along the way. If you get hungry this is a good place for the essence of home cooked meals. The decor is not exciting but the staff is friendly and efficient. The food is reasonably priced and the portions can be called large. The menu selections are varied with no specific ethnic claim. If you enjoy fish for a entree meal they have a half-dozen choices as well as sandwiches, burgers, steaks and salads . This is not a high priced gourmet place, just delicious food. There is a small gift shop next door also by the same owners. They don't take plastic, just cash or check.
