We stopped here on a day-trip from Minneapolis to Wabasha. Across the bridge from Wabasha on the Wisconsin side is this sweet little diner in Nelson, situated directly below the twin bluffs. The food was well-prepared and reasonably priced, and the service was friendly. The restaurant was completely full when we arrived at 1:00 p.m. on a fall Saturday, but we were able to get a table within 15 minutes. There's nothing remotely trendy about the place, just good basic American fare. I had a grilled salmon sandwich with a side of potato salad, which was absolutely delicious, and my husband enjoyed the fish and chips. There was a tempting dessert menu, but we held out for the Stockholm Pie Company up the road.
