For some reason, it had been a while since we had been back to Cy's. We are used to driving a bit to get to food a level up from just adequate fuel. When we have the energy, that usually means Madison, Milwaukee, or Appleton. We are often meeting our kid somewhere. Anyway, we finally got back to Cy's small dining room in downtown Neenah. It is always nice to be greeted by the owner with a nod and a smile, recognizing us even though a year or more may have passed. There may just be about 15 tables and a short bar. Last night the flavors were right on. The Lemon grass soup is so clean and fresh. They offer chicken or shrimp. The smallest details are done right. The chicken was tender and juicy and just the tight size to eat pleasantly.
A more than adequated list of starters, other soups and now a list of sushi rolls get things we started. There are noodle dishes that I have had for lunch in the past that are very good.
Finally, there is a nice long list of curries and sauces that can served with a variety of vegetables, and chicken, beef, pork, seafood and duck giving a tremendous number of combinations.
I have always been impressed by the quality of the waitstaff at Cy's, I didn't remember any of the younger people I saw last night, but they carried on the owner's welcoming and caring attitude witch certainly is demonstrated by leadership.
It won't be as long til we are back again.
