“Minhas--the 11th largest brewery in the US”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 25, 2013

Minhas has been continually improving & updating the facilities--their tasting room is really neat & the tour is informational. The memorabilia that was donated is displayed very nicely & really adds to the experience.

“Local historic brewery”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 25, 2013

The tours are very interesting and informative, and they are given by local people who have pride in our community. For a $10.00 admission, visitors receive free beer or soda and a glass.
Two for one tickets are often featured on Groupon.

“Nice tour of brewery-on a cold winter day.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 25, 2013

With this adventure being within minutes from where I live we saved this for a winter day when it was too cold to be outside. The facility was on Groupon and we enjoyed the building, history behind the brewery, and the samples with glasses to keep. We were even provided a gift pack to go home with. This was such a pleasant afternoon that we decided that we would certainly do this tour again, but will wait until after they are through remodeling now that a fire has done close to $500,000 in damages.

“Visit both the Brewery and the Distillery”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 25, 2013

We recently toured the distillery and the brewery. The distillery and brewery are in separate buildings and are separate tours. Each cost $10 per person to tour, but you get more than that back in complimentary gifts. I HIGHLY recommend both of the following liqueurs: Horchata (finest Caribbean rum blended with real Wisconsin dairy cream) and Wisconsin Club Country Cream (better than Baileys Irish Cream), What adds to the ambiance are the quaint older and historic buildings in which the distillery and brewery are housed. Much, much fun!

“Great before-lunch activity”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 19, 2013

We bought the groupon so the tour was only $10 for 2; half the regular price. We had a very enjoyable time. Definitely try for off-peak hours. We did the 11am Saturday tour and it was fine since there was only around 15-20 people. On a busy weekend, the guide said they can get 300 people across the 3 Sat tours; the 1pm and 3pm tours can have upwards of 130 each! They are building a new tour area that doubles the size of the tasting room; hopefully it will be finished before summer 2014. We arrived at around 10:30 (driving up from Galena, IL) and got a start on "tasting" before the 11am tour.

Since they work during the week, we didn't get to see the bottling machinery in action. Don't know if that would restrict the tour because of safety issues. And yes, it is an old building and there are many things that could be repaired/repainted/cleaned. As to the accuracy of the facts, idk, we were just looking to enjoy the tour/tasting.

The tour ended with everyone getting a variety of 5 bottles (I took the soda selection and my friend the beer) and a glass (to be used at the tastings). Following the tour, you get the chance to officially taste from a large selection of draft and bottled beers and sodas. But plan to arrive early before your tour; maybe you can sample before your tour as we did.

It was starting to get very busy/crowded as it got closer to 1pm and the next tour. So definitely do the 11am tour and arrive around 10:30. You can browse the store and "museum" with a cup in hand.

Overall, a good value if you pay full-price and a great one with the groupon. And after our tour, we walked a block over for lunch at the Swiss House. All in all an enjoyable mid-day activity since we went with a small group of friends.
