“Huge condo!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 19, 2014

My husband and I spent 2 nights here because of family members having a timeshare. By far, it was the largest timeshare condo in which we have stayed. There were 3 bathrooms and 3 bedrooms, and a huge dining room with a table that could easily seat 10 people. If you are looking for something for a large family, this would be the place!

Everything was in working order, though it is a little worn and could use some updating in the bedrooms. The bathrooms looked to be fairly new. The a/c unit in the 2nd bedroom (with 2 full beds) was only inches away from one of the beds, so be aware that someone who likes the cold would have to sleeping in that bed if you plan to use the condo with its full capacity of 10.

We never heard any noise from the villa next to us, but there was a child aboveus who ran back and forth frequently and intermittently from about 8 a.m. to 10 p.m. every day. If you don't like to listen to pounding on the ceiling, be sure to book an upper floor so you can be the quiet ones;the walls and ceiling are definitely not very thick.

It is only a one-hour drive to Sturgeon Bay from the resort if you are looking for something near Door County.

Room Tip: Request the second floor if you are not traveling with children and want to have quiet in the mornin...

Thank you for being our guest and for taking the time to share your experience with other travelers. We appreciate your comments on our "huge condo!" Many guests share your thoughts and tell us how much they love the large bedrooms, living room & dining area. Our condo's are a great fit for families when traveling and we agree it's a convenient location to Door County, as well as other area's like Green Bay & Lake Michigan. We are sorry there was a child above you running around, I guess with all the room in the condo's the child must have felt right a home. Thanks again for your comments and high ratings!

We look forward to welcoming you back the next time your travels bring you to Wisconsin.

The staff was very efficient, helpful and friendly. Checkin was fast. Our condo was large (2 bedroom 2-bath) with balconies for both bedrooms and the living area. Our condo overlooked the golf course and was very near the indoor heated pool (outdoor pool was next to indoor pool)
It was a large pool and our girls swam everyday. The condos are older, but were clean and very satisfactory for what we wanted. We went to the bar area (part of the restaurant) and waitress were efficient and friendly (we were given coupons for free drinks on the Monday night after checkin) I would certainly go there again. The girls enjoyed the miniature golf. We do not play golf so cannot comment on the course.

Room Tip: Condos were 2 story - there was not an elevator. We stayed on 2nd floor - not a problem for us. Al...

4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 17, 2014 via mobile

I spent a week at the Fox Hills Resort in August, visiting from the London area in the UK, with my family, consisting of a 14 year old, 19 year old and my parents.

To start, it is worth explaining that the Fox Hills Resort is split into two, there is the Hotel and the Resort itself. This review focuses on the Resort aspect where I stayed, I did not visit the Hotel so therefore cannot offer any critic in that regard. My parents are members of RCI, whom highly regard the resort on their website, as such, this week was booked using RCI points which by all means was good value for the facilities and accommodation.

The Villa:

We stayed in villa nine, considering there were five of us, the villa had enough adjoining room optitions to comfortably accommodate all of us, there was a pull out bed in the living room which was comfortable and there were spare sheets and pillows in the room. All of the bedrooms were to a high standard in terms of cleanliness, the most important factor, the rooms were also equipped with basic amenities such as a TV and bed side tables, one improvement would be for the rooms to have reading lights/ bed side lights in all of the rooms, a simple addition which would have made pre-bed reading easier!

Bathrooms were clean and tidy, complimentary toiletries included and perfectly suitable bath and shower areas which were well stocked with towels.

The final aspect of the room would be the kitchen area, again, well stocked and perfectly suitable for an extended stay at the Resort containing all of your cooking essentials as well as comfortable table and chairs with a built in breakfast bar and stools. The villa also had rear patio doors which opened out onto a small patio area where the golf course was located, this area had a BBQ stand as well as some chairs which made for a pleasant outdoor seating area which was not overlooked by other guests.

Facilities:

The Resort has Tennis Courts, Indoor Pool and an Outdoor Pool, to name a few. Tennis courts were fit for purpose, however, a fresh coat of paint couldn't go amiss to bring them back up to a high standard. At the Resort, the indoor and outdoor pools are located at the Villa check in area, the pools are well maintained and have a large indoor hot tub, however to visit the Gym, you would need to walk to Hotel which is not located near to the Resort pools.

The pools at the Resort are large and absorb a large number of guests with reasonable ease, however, they do get busy, especially in the evening which can take away from the experience. The pools open at 8am, not particularly early, but they are empty for most of the morning, my recommended time to visit.

We did not visit the hotel restaurant during our stay, however we did visit the Benchwarmers Sports Grill on a Friday evening, which was excellent. Still a friendly family environment with a lively bar area, service and food was great with a fantastic menu filled with all items you would expect to see on any sports bar menu. I recommend trying a local Wisconsin Ale with the Cheese Curds starter and the Macaroni Cheese Pasta! All reasonably priced with friendly knowledgable servers.

Local Area:

Mishicot itself is a typical small rural american town, settled in the heart of Wisconsin. While it is in easy reach of Green Bay, Manitowoc and Two Rivers, to name a few, the town itself should not be overlooked.

Particularly worth a mention is Mt Cup Coffee House located on the Main Street in Mishicot. An excellent, friendly Cafe serving breakfast, muffins and of course Tea and Coffee. What makes Mt Cup Cafe stand out is the ability to enjoy your beverage on their decking overlooking the river, a great location which is maintained to a high standard, with complementary wifi. Also in Mishicot, take a walk along the Main Street to have a brief look at the covered bridge, while it is recently restored, it still provides a pleasant walk with a view of the river while exploring the reasonably small centre of Mishicot.

You will find plenty of other nearby attractions in the area, rent bikes from a number of other hotels in Two Rivers or visit the Green Bay Packers Stadium in Green Bay. For those willing to travel further from the Resort, Washington Island is several hours north of Mishicot, a scenic drive along Lake Michigan and plenty of points of interest to visit on the Island itself which has a regular ferry service connecting it to the main land. Worth visiting just to enjoy the ferry which boasts spectacular views of Lake Michigan as you make the crossing.

Overall, Fox Hills Resort was great place to be based for a week of visiting Wisconsin. Comfortable accommodation with excellent facilities, located nearby to other main cities in the state and in reach of Chicago's O' Hare Airport. Make sure you have access to a vehicle to enjoy the surrounding area and enjoy the resorts numerous facilities. It is worth pointing out, while I personally didn't make use of any of the Golfing facilities, the Resort is known for its golfing and has a well maintained course, as well as "Crazy Golf" on site.

If you do one activity while in the Mishicot area, take the "Champions Tour" of the Green Bay Packers Stadium, an internationally recognised sporting stadium which is worth a visit, NFL fan or not!

Thank you for taking time to write a review about your stay with us. I am pleased to read that your family enjoyed our hospitality and the amenities we offer here at Fox Hills Resort. This is the type of feedback that continues to motivate staff and helps us continue to improve; I will let management know about adding those bedside lights you mentioned.

We couldn't agree more about your recommendation of trying "a local Wisconsin Ale with the Cheese Curds starter and the Macaroni Cheese Pasta" at Benchwarmers. They are delicious and our sports bar is a great place to grab a bit to eat while staying with us.

Again, thank you for your kind words on our friendly staff and giving those readers not familiar with the area an over view of all there is to do close by. We certainly appreciated and enjoyed having you as a guest and we hope that you will come back and see us when vacationing in the States again.

Our daughter and son in law were married at Fox Hills in July. The resort is very good for a wedding ceremony. The entire event took place there, including a scenic outdoor wedding by a lagoon, the reception, and the dance. Reasonable prices as weddings go, very good food, and excellent facilities. The guest rooms are very average and rather pricey for what you get. They are spacious and do include a mini fridge and coffee maker. The bar is very popular, including a live band, and as a result we had very loud drunks wake us up in the wee hours as they returned to / tried to find their rooms. The bar and restaurant are definitely not user friendly in terms of times, options, cost, and speed of service. Given that the resort would have to be on Mars to be more isolated, that is really a problem, since there are effectively no off-site alternatives. Did not play golf, but it's supposed to be a nice course, and there were lots of people there for golf that day. Definitely recommend it as a place for a wedding or other formal event, but not so much as a place to visit / stay otherwise.

Room Tip: The far west wing of the hotel does not have an elevator or a lift. This makes it difficult for any...

Thank you for your review. We are honored your daughter choose us when selecting her wedding location. We are glad that you enjoyed the food and facility during your daughters wedding and we agree, this is a great venue for weddings & other events. We do offer multiple specials all year long as well as a rate for those who are staying for wedding. We also offer many activities for our guests, including live music on the weekends. We hope you will come back again soon and play golf. We would love to have you back.

Drove 1.5 hours to attend a co-workers wedding. The wedding on a golf green was mediocre at best for location. Nothing that really stood out and wowed you, just a pond with a fountain. we did not stay over night but visited a few rooms where friends were staying and they all had a view of a roof top or a wall and a downspout from there rooms, less than impressed. The food was also not nearly as good as expected for a 3 meat wedding at what I was told was $15 per plate, and the left over food was sold the next morning on the breakfast buffet for $10.95. We did not stay the night needless to say, also on top of this the resort was double booked weddings that day so it was very busy. Overall seemed very over priced for an out of town resort wedding.

Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback. Here, weddings are an experience of tradition, romance and fun! Yes, we do have multiple locations for weddings & receptions and during peak wedding season we may have more than one each day. We are very honored that brides and grooms choose us for their wedding and reception location. We offer great packages and are close to beaches, Green Bay, Door County and so many other things the area has to offer making us a great location. We are sorry you didn't have the opportunity to stay with us. We really hope you do return to visit us and see all we have to offer.

My niece got married here this weekend. We came up the night before and arrived latish and starving. There was a 1,5 hour wait for food! The tables have "vintage" Wisconsin sports cards that are yellowed old. They are also
Somewhat sticky. It's pretty obvious the place hasn't been updated in a while. Our room was clean, but there was a bar of open soap in the shower. Talk about sustainability, I guess. On the wedding day, between the ceremony and the reception we went back to the sports bar. Mind you there were 2 weddings this weekend... There was one waitress and one bartender. Another long wait. We ordered the New Glarus on tap and it was flat. Eventually they got a 2nd waitress and bartender and things started to move some, but still, they should have been prepared for the influx of guests. My overall impression is that they are the only game in town and know it. I didn't play golf. Maybe that's the sweet spot.

This was our second year going to Fox Hills for a golfing weekend. The resort offers a fair golfing pkg. The golf course are kept up nicely. The hotel has newer rooms and older rooms, so if you are going to spend a lot of time in your room ask for the newer rooms. Benchwarmers is a nice size bar and grill, The food is fine but service tends to be a little slow. When we were driving in we called in advance to have a pizza made. When we arrived i asked the young female bartender if our pizza was ready yet as we had called in and ordered in advance. She was not the warmest bartender around, she came back and said it would be about 10 minutes. Well 20 minutes later i asked again, the waitress acted a little put out. Well after asking her numerous more times i have now been there for over an hour, it did not seem to bother her one bit and when i got a little loud with her (not disrespectful) she states that's it i am not serving you anymore, well imagine that after 2 beers i am cut off. I then approached a male bartender and asked about our pizza, the look on his face was priceless he says there has been a pizza sitting here for over 45 minutes that was called in. Bingo that was ours he said he was sorry numerous times and took care of us. Now you would think the female bartender would come over and say she was sorry, she avoided us like this was all our fault she did not do her job properly. Overall we had a nice stay, but it is situations like this that make you think about going somewhere else next year for our golfing weekend.
