This hotel is the best hotel I have ever stayed at. My children enjoyed the waterpark and the gameroom!!!
First trip to Minocqua. The area lived up to it's reputation. And I was so pleased with our accomodations (and I am extremely picky) I booked our vacation for next year. Best housekeeping service we have ever had. The waterpark is small but I knew I wasn't staying at the Kalahari. Nice pool facilities with some extra's. We went during the week and it was NOT crowded at all. Also very quiet and peaceful for relaxing and sleeping at night. Clean, new, and everything located conveniently. All staff very helpful and courteous. Nice gift shop, great location. And best of all very reasonable priced. If you want a giant waterpark go to the dells, but expect to pay for the dells. You can get a nice standard room for $100 and that's the going rate all over Minocqua even at the older run down places without indoor/outdoor pools. No disappointments here. And my two kids 6 and 1 had a great time as well.
This is a beautiful hotel in the northwoods area of Mincoqua, Wisconsin. The exterior and interior of this hotel is beautiful, very well-kept and clean. Our room was quite large and clean - with nice amenities and even a little deck w/ chairs. The pool area and waterpark was another story. We stayed there in July 2004 and that is certainly a busy time of year for them, I'm sure - but the floors were quite dirty and uncomfortable to walk on and the place was just overrun with kids and adults everywhere - we barely could find a place to set down our towels and sandals. I think they would be much better off restricting the public access to just certain hours of the day and leaving the majority of time to registered guests - but that's just my opinion. The other issue I had was with the waterslides themselves - my 13 year old son thoroughly enjoyed himself, but my 9 year old daughter refused to go down again after her first slide and so, I tried it, thinking it couldn't be all that bad. I've ridden a lot of wild amusement park rides and visited a number of different water parks with my kids, but I was literally scared to death after riding the slide! It was completely pitch black inside - except for some minimal track lighting in a couple sections - and it was terrifying. I nearly flipped over completely twice. And that was the slow slide! I can't imagine what the fast slide would be like - nor did I try it. We had actually booked 2 nights at this hotel - but since the majority of our party could not enjoy the waterpark facilities - which was the main draw for us - we decided to forego the 2nd night and check out. So, all in all - I was somewhat disappointed and not sure if we would go back.
