“Nice historic place!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed September 9, 2013

This place was quiet and was a perfect location for our trip to the American Playhouse Theatre. We love Mineral Point, so we wanted to stay in this small historic quiet town. We had no trouble, as I know this place is up for sale and didn't get good reviews before. I would stay here again!

We booked a room based on what turned out to be year old reviews. I should have paid attention to the review written on June 25, 2013. It reflects our experience. Last winter the owners of this hotel pulled out and put the building up for sale. Since then it is being managed by some very nice, but inexperienced and untrained, people whose main jobs are connected with Shake Rag Alley. When we arrived there was nobody to check us in or help us haul our luggage to the second floor; there was no ice; we were told there were just granola bars for breakfast; we ended up scrounging in the kitchen for ground coffee for the French press coffee maker; our beds were not made up the second day and by then we had run out of body wash and had no soap. The room was pretty and expensively decorated and the bathroom was clean and had a charming claw foot tub. Just be aware that until new management takes over you will be, to some extent, "roughing it" - at the full price. On the positive side there was a certain amount of camaraderie among the guests as we shared our gripes and searched for more coffee and soap in unoccupied rooms. Fortunately the location is close to some excellent restaurants. I might give this hotel a second try...someday.

We stayed here for three nights. The building is beautiful, inside and out. The rooms are very cozy and probably have the most comfortable beds I have ever slept on. The location is perfect for exploring the town, you can park and walk everywhere. However, we were given 2 granola bars for breakfast the first day, and after that nothing! We didn't go hungry there are good breakfast places within walking distance, but for what we paid for the room, and the fact that their website said breakfast, at the very least serve a continental breakfast. We were the only ones in the place & other than check-in, we never saw a soul there. Also the hall light could not be turned off and lit up our room all night making it hard to sleep. This place could be so much more. We will come back to Mineral Point, but I think we will try another place next time.

My girlfriend and I really enjoyed the hotel. What stood out the most was the cleanliness of the rooms and bathrooms. If you can request a room with one of their cozy and private balconies, and grab a cup of coffe in the morning or bottle of wine in the evening from their lobby cafe. The proprietors Jackie and Kyle were more than helpful when planning our day trips to local points of interest, along with our hikes and bike rides. By far the best place in town to stay.

Room Tip: request a room with a balcony

we often stay at B&Bs and have to rate the mineral point hotel in the top 20% of those we have stayed. very clean, large room with small fridge a balcony. comfortable king sized bed and nice decor. breakfest was simple, but fresh and tasty, with excellant coffee. when in MP----stay here, perfect location, frendly staff------hard to beat.

This hotel is not only well-decorated and lovely to look at, but it also comes with a great manager, hostess, and service personnel. The atmosphere at the hotel is filled with both quaint, small-town ambiance, as well as rich, luxurious decor and hospitality. You couldn't find a better place to stay. I will go back to this hotel year after year!

Mineral Point Hotel is the perfect getaway. The rooms are super clean, very large, and the beds are comfortable. Having a mini-fridge in the room is a nice perk that you don't see often. The location is great... shops, bars, and restaurants are right outside your door. Having a coffee shop downstairs is very convenient and makes for a happy morning!
