“A treasure in Milwaukee”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 1, 2012

This place is one of the best places to stay if you want to get away without alot of fuss. It's located walking distance from Brady Street (great resturants and bars) which makes the location ideal. Even before we got there, the staff (A young man named Parker) was extermely helpful when i was booking my reservation. I wanted to stay three nights but German Fest was scheduled and we could only book two nights. Parker put me on the waitng list and then called about a week before to let me know we could come but we would need to switch room on the second night. I have had this happen before at other places and it never turns out well. This was flawless. The staff moved our bAgs and had our room ready to go. The guest room (we stayed in 308 and 307) was charming and spacious. The price was excellent and I was shocked at how inexpensive it was given the high quality service and location. They did not have fridges in them which was a small issue but I also get. Of wanting to let folks keep food in their room when you have a resturant and a pub downstairs. The staff was extremely pleasant and helpful with suggestions of places and activities to partake. The resturant was outstanding and we felt like we were in Ireland hanging out at a local watering hole. This is a great central point to all points of Milwaukee. This is the only place I would stay now.

My husband and I had a one night stay on 7/28/2012 and found this hotel to be quite charming. The rooms were clean but dated and felt a bit humid, even with the AC on. There is no privacy when taking a shower or bath!... (thank goodness my kids weren't staying in our room!) The toilet is in a closet opposite the exposed shower stall. Did not care for that set up. The bed was not the most comfortable, and the TV is an old 19inch box. The coffee pot did not work in our room! UGGGH!! Not good after a night of drinking German beer! Location was fine. We walked across the street to the Astor (we had stayed there in the past) and jumped on their shuttle to get us to and from Germanfest. We tipped the driver so we did not take advantage of him... We found the breakfast to be pretty good. Made to order omelets, sausage, potato patties, assorted breads, assorted juices, coffee and teas. Quaint but not impressive.

We stayed Thurs. to Sun. (7/26/12 - 7/29/12). We stayed in a suite which had a sitting area with a couch, chair, coffee table, end table and small desk. The sitting area is partially separated from the sleeping area. Then there is a separate very large bathroom with a shower and a jacuzzi tub.
The rooms aren't super luxurious but are very quaint, clean and comfortable.
The staff at this place could not have been friendlier. During our stay there were probably 6 different people working at the front desk and they were all so helpful and nice. Everyone in the restaurant and bar were also great.
The free breakfast in the morning was very good. It's not a huge buffet but they do offer fresh made to order omelets. They usually only have one person making the omelets and there can be a little bit of a wait. They also have some other cold items available as well as soft drinks, juice, milk and coffee.
I don't know what the previous reviewer was talking about when they said this was not such a good location. It is on a charming street with some beautiful homes. We took advantage of the trolley to get to places a little further than we wanted to walk. There is a trolley stop just one block over and one block up. It costs $1 per person and make its way along the lakefront, down to Old Third Ward, over Historic 3rd Street and back up to where we were. When you pay your dollar you get a ticket and you can get off and get back on later in the day and not have to pay again. We did this to get down to Germanfest and back. We were there for the Milwaukee beer festival and it was an easy walk there as well as to the Brady Street Festival.
We plan to come back for the same long weekend next year and have already made our reservations with County Clare for next year.

Room Tip: I would recommend the suite because of the large bathroom.

I have stayed at County Clare a few times and each has been a memorable experience. I love the central location and the accommodations, which have always been perfect. One time we were placed near the elevator and after realizing that it was too noisy for our liking asked for another room. The staff quickly relocated us to a quieter room.

We've also eaten at County Clare's restaurant and have found it very good. The ambiance is also very nice.
Highly recommended!

We were so glad to have found this little hotel situated over an Irish Pub. It is within walking distance to the Art Museum, Brady Street, the Third Ward, etc... We were only there for 2 days and never moved our car. It was fantastic to have a "made to order" omelet to start your day off. The room was very comfortable and spacious. I would definitely recommend this spot to anyone traveling to Milwaukee.

We stayed there for two nights in June. Everyone was nice and the room (105) was great. Parking is limited/tight, but they will valet if no spots are left. The pub could use a kid's menu.
