A cool, historic area. Unique shops and great restaurants. Hip people walking around with teir dogs. The public market is fun and has many dining options.
This is a good place to take a woman to do some shopping. Girls go crazy for anything that has the name "Boutique" on it. This area of the city is full of these shops.
Men, be prepared to bust out your wallet and take a hit. Its a bit pricy here.
Having lived most of our lives in Pasadena CA we found some similarities between the areas. Strolling the streets, in and out of shops and markets created a warm inviting environment for us. Walking across the bridge one moment then the next it raises because a boat goes by was great. Finding lunch at the market allowed for picking and choosing for everyone. Plan on another visit.
The Milwaukee Ale House is absolutely fantastic; The Public Market was impressive for such a small building. Great shops, coffee bars, etc. Spin (think ping-pong instead of pool tables)looks unique and fun. Vino 100 is on our list when we return.
Good walking neighborhood with lots of locally owned shops and restaurants. A must do for locals and visitors looking for a nice neighborhood to wander, and a great way to spend an afternoon. The renovations made in the past several years clearly reflect an interest in preserving the historic neighborhood and supporting local business.
