“Always a treat to see a movie here.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 26, 2014 NEW

This is a vintage Art Deco theater that specializes in indie movies. There is delicious crispy popcorn here, and the snack selection is eclectic. The largest theater is something to behold and will keep newcomers occupied before the movies start.

“Awesome spot -- not to be missed!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 25, 2014 NEW

We loved our trip to the Oriental last night! At nearly 90 years old, this cinema has charm and character in abundance. You could spend the length of an entire movie just exploring its nooks and crannies, from the Buddha sculptures to the movie posters, original chandeliers...you name it! What's on is slightly more than your standard big-budget fare. It's an homage to cinema and a real institution. Don't miss it during your trip to Milwaukee!

“Old School Charm & Popcorn”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 10, 2014

Oriental Theater isn't known by all in Milwaukee but it's one of the coolest little chic places around. Not only does it have movies, but it is also a great place that hosts speakers and lectures.

“Love the Buddhas & the Kimball Organ!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 18, 2014

For anyone who appreciates the vintage theater experience, The Oriental is worth a visit.

Try to catch a movie in the "main room" -- the center theater (it's a Triplex now) -- so you can watch a movie while all the Buddhas watch You.

The architecture is a combination of East Indian, Moorish, Islamic, and Byzantine architecture -- beautiful wall murals.

Every Friday and Saturday before the 7pm show --- they raise the Kimball Theatre Pipe Organ to introduce the show ---- very cool!

“Great Old Place”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 10, 2014

This is as grand as it gets. Go see a movie here if you get the chance. You will not regret it. The architecture and upkeep of the facility is outstanding. Everything is reasonably priced. They just don't make them like this anymore. Service from the attendants with any questions was superb. Highly recommend this place. Parking was on the street.
