Wednesdays at noon you can take a free tour that lasts about 20 minutes of the green roof. It's kind of a big deal as it was one of the first to be done in Milwaukee. It has solar panels and sedum plants. There's also a section in the library which focuses on being more green- has some information running on video screens, posted on panels, and a selection of books. The building is beautiful and historic. You don't need a library card to enter. The children's section has a play area to keep kids busy for awhile. There are always interesting displays on the second floor that appeal to adults. Currently there is a Barbie exhibit which is great. Stop by the coffee shop for lunch- they make great sandwiches (Southwest turkey is awesome!) and have locally produced Anodyne coffees. You will find a very cheap selection of used books in the cafe too.
