“Charming!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed June 13, 2014

What a classy, old fashioned hotel - with real keys! Affordable parking for a city, great central location, close to the water but still quiet at night. It was a small an cozy room, but all the furniture was brand new. And the restaurant was amazing for breakfast! There is an outdoor patio that is fantastic, definitely check it out.

Grace,

I am so pleased that you enjoyed your stay at The Plaza Hotel! Thank you for your kind words. I am especially glad that you were able to enjoy breakfast in our Courtyard. It's certainly a great place to have a cup of coffee and a great breakfast, all with a quiet view of the city!

We hope to have you stay with us the next time you are in Milwaukee!

Kind regards,
Amanda Ridout

Overall, we had a great stay. Super clean & comfy. Would not recommend staying in a room by the stairwell though...we got a fair amount of noise from people up and down stairs & back doors opening/closing.

I only stayed one night on business, but the room was comfortable in a quiet and very walkable, safe neighborhood. It might be a good more affordable choice for attending conferences at the larger business-oriented hotels about a 10 minute walk west. Brady St. shops and restaurants are also within walking distance, as is the beautiful Milwaukee lakefront (about a 20 minute walk). Rooms are well appointed but not completely renovated, although the kitchen in the room was new and nicely equipped. Free WiFi was fast and easy to access.

We stayed in the two bedroom suite with another couple, which was perfect for two couples. Plenty of room with a full kitchen. The room classic and charming without being dated. Location was very convenient.

Room was comfortable, room service doesn't include cleaning the toilet, bathtub etc unless you stay 7 nights or longer.
Staff was very friendly, welcoming, and supportive. would stay again if back in MKE!

Room was very comfortable and clean. Plentiful closet space. Only negative was small bathroom with no counter space. Great location close to Lake Michigan and halfway between downtown and Brady Street. Restaurant is a bonus. Only open for brunch. Food was excellent. Room location on first floor was convenient. Great value for the price.

If you are looking for an upscale, modern hotel keep looking. But if stepping back in time a bit is your thing, by all means give this place a try. You can really feel what it must have been like to stay in a downtown hotel in1950 - very art deco. The hotel is old and lacks some of the amenities of the 21st century (like elevators and air conditioning), but the rooms and public spaces are well maintained, neat and very clean. While our room had obviously been updated, it had not been "remodeled" (except for the kitchen area, which was very current).

The other thing I need to mention is how friendly and helpful every person on the staff we encounter was! It was really refreshing to deal with people who genuinely care.

We will be back.
