“Upscale lunches in an unobtrusive location”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed June 15, 2013

Watt's tearoom has been a fixture for several decades. It is located on the second floor above an shop that sells expensive glassware and tableware. Its customers tend to come from Milwaukee's quiet old wealth. It's foods, teas, and coffees are high-quality and they rarely surprise. Of course, the location makes the setting quiet.

“A Touch of Elegance...”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed May 10, 2013

The Watts Tea Shop is the centerpiece at this location, but there are many other reasons to check this out. Waterford crystal, Lladro figurines, gift shops, and for any brides-to-be, one of the most elegeant bridal shops in the midwest, Zita Bridal Salon. There is a long history of style and elegance at this location and the tradition continues, with Watts Tea still providing a quality dining experience, whether it's breakfast, lunch, or "high tea". A very diverse menu and top knotch service await anyone who visits. If you want to go back to a time when quality and service mattered, this is the place to see.

“Too much hype”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed November 6, 2012

I stopped there for a girls lunch, as it is a place I have always wanted to go to. The gift shop you need to walk through was great and heightened the expectation of the restaurant. When we got to the restaurant, we were met with outdated decor that was very lackluster. The menu had a nice variety of foods and I did enjoy the Chicken Pot Pie, however the other ladies found their meals mediocre. Of course we had tea, and thoroughly enjoyed that. The desserts were okay but not fantastic, including their much hyped "sunshine cake". The service as well was not great.

“A great find”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 27, 2012 via mobile

Located on the second floor above an art gallery and a bridal shop, the Watts Tea Room is a gem of a restaurant.

Croissant French Toast w/macadamia nuts - YUM and the Benedict's on homemade English Muffins were outa sight!

If I was into tea parties this would be a great place, but being a guy I don't usually go for finger sandwiches. Neat atmosphere.

“A great retro place to eat lunch (and tea) in Milwaukee”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed September 12, 2012

I had wanted to try this place for a long time after reading a review in the Sterns' "Road Food" book. From their description, this was a "ladies who lunch" kind of place and it was interesting to enter through a china shop. It is quite a pretty room with plenty of light coming in on a sunny day. I tried the Waterford spritzer which was not as exciting as it sounded. For lunch, I had the chicken pot pie and a root vegetable side while my wife had salmon with curry sauce. We both enjoyed our food. For dessert, we both had the sunshine cake which was interesting but not that exciting. Basically, it seemed to be an angel-food cake with a lemon filling and the so-called boiled frosting which was very sweet and meringue like. Overall, service was good. We did look at the china afterwards - they have a lot of expensive stuff including a nice collection of Herend china.
