I travel to Milwaukee about 3 times a year on business and have stayed at the Hilton, Hyatt, Pfister and Intercontinental along with the Marriott downtown. The Marriott is the newest of these long standing dowtown Milwaukee hotels. While "historic" on the outside, the inside reflects a modern contemporary feel. Very convenient to the 3rd ward district and summer festivials. The rooms are clean and "efficient". The rooms are modest in size but come with a comfortable bed and average amentitites. No "in room safe" or refrigerator which for a full service hotel seems odd.The hotel has safe deposit boxes avaialbe at the front desk but that is simply inconvienient. The Staff are what make the hotel-very accomodating, and couldn't do enough to make my stay enjoyable. The breakfast buffet and restuarant are typcial Marriott fare and no complaints-not over the top but a solid "B". What I like most is the fact that in "old" Milwaukee, there is a new, modern, clean and up to date full service hotel. While lacking perhaps the Pfister's charm next door, the Marriott is not "tired" like the Pfister. I'll give up the charm for a more up to date "modern" hotel experience-especially on business. Given the other choices in downtown MIlwaukee, this would be my first choice. A "very good" (best) choice for Milwaukee downtown relative to what's available.
