My wife and I traveled to Milwaukee to attended two of the Cheap Trick Dream Police shows at the Northern Lights Theather in Feburary 2011. While seeing our favorite band was the highlight of our visit to Milwaukee, our stay at the Ambassador was outstanding.
We love the history of the hotel some of which is on display in the lobby with original advertisements and anouncements. We loved all of the old art deco feel with the original elevator doors, the mailbox, the chandelier and the marble floor. The Envoy Bar will take you back in time with its decor and excellent service.
All of this makes the Ambassador a wonderful hotel but it is the staff that makes it special. We were always greeted warmly and everyone was very eager to make our stay memorable. We used the shuttle service extensively and the drivers were always curteous, informative and fun. We even left a t-shirt we purchased from the Comet Cafe in the shuttle and the driver retrieved it for us.
We used room service a few times and even calling 15 minutes before room service ended, the staff couldn't have been more pleasant and didn't act like it was a hassle at all. The food also was fabulous.
The rooms are very spacious and clean and the beds are very comfortable. My wife loves Aveda and was very happy to know the Ambassador provides Aveda products. You may read other reviews regarding the neighborhood not being safe but we always felt comfortable in our surroundings.
We are looking forward to another great trip to Milwaukee to see Cheap Trick again at the Northern Lights Theater AND our stay at the Ambassador the end of October.
