“Historic older hotel.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 3, 2013

Had stayed here many times in years past but it seemed to have gone "downhill".for a while. Substantial renovations have been done and it is now back to its former glory. Our only minor complaint was with the small bathroom which is common in older buildings. The former water park has been removed so there is no pool at this time. We look forward to a return visit.

The Hilton Milwaukee is a charming, interesting classic old downtown hotel and I truly enjoyed my stay there this week on a business trip.

The pros: super location, very helpful staff, lots of on-site amenities (Miller Time Pub - don't miss it, and a real Starbucks), comfortable bed, good A/C. Nice acknowledgement of me as a HHonors Gold member.

The cons: my room was dirtier than most Hiltons where I stay; dust and dirt all around the edge of the carpet. No counter space in the bathroom. Curiously, the TV and coffee maker were unplugged, so I had to crawl down on the floor under the furniture to plug them back in. “High” speed internet is not fast at all – scored a D on speedtest.net.

Overall a very good stay; they just need to focus a bit more on cleanliness basics in the guestrooms.

Room Tip: request a room facing the lake; city side rooms offer no view

Everything about this hotel was excellent. However, what most impressed me was the staff. I was a conference presenter and had contact with several members of the staff, from front desk to catering to maintenance, and all were quick, responsive and so very kind and gracious. Never once did I feel that I was "imposing" on them with a request. I hope to be able to return for future stays!

Hi Kathy,

Thank you so much for taking the time to leave a review here on Tripadvisor. A hotel is nothing without its employees, and we're extremely fortunate to have an amazing team at our hotel with many employees that have not only spent years, but decades working at our property.

The pride that we hold as an institution and business is grown directly out of the pride that our individual associates hold in the work that they do; from housekeeping, to front desk and from catering to sales.

I'm happy to learn that you've experienced this pride firsthand. We certainly welcome and look forward to having you stay with us again soon!

Thanks!

Dustin Zick

This is a classic hotel, ornate lobby, imposing front desk, huge ballroom, wood paneled bar, coffee shop, chop house, etc. Have stayed here annually for years, staff is great, solid food offerings, and the Miller Time Bar serves a good deal more than Miller. Meeting staff are conscientious, hotel staff friendly, great location downtown, close to train station and Grand Ave. Mall, room sizes are what you might expect in an older downtown hotel, but beds are great. Parking is in an adjacent attached parking structure, with one access to the hotel lobby on the second level. The water park closed last summer, and plans for disposition are as yet unannounced.

Stayed here overnight to attend meetings. Arrived at 10am and was checked in promptly to a room on the 11th floor. Room was lovely, very clean. Bathroom was oversized and bed was extremely comfy with lots of pillows...slept like a baby! Ate three meals banquet style for my company meetings. Rosetta was our server at our sit-down dinner and was very friendly and attentive to our table. She kept my wine glass full! Decor of the hotel is fancy 1920's era. I think it is historic given the attention to detail...would definitely stay here again. Neat place!

The room was clean but I felt like the bathroom seemed a little old. Not in bad shape though. Lobby was large and impressive. Major complaint would be the wait for the elevators, however not a major issue. Bar was comfortable with ample TV's.

I spent a weekend in Milwaukee watching the St. Louis Cardinals win 2 out of 3 important games from the local Brewers. My buddies and I were focusing our time on baseball and local breweries. We booked a room at the Hilton and were pleasantly surprised by the quality of the common areas, the rooms, and the friendliness of the staff. We were greeted with friendly jeering about being Cardinals fans nearly every time we entered the building. You are within walking distance of Water Street, where you can visit numerous high-quality microbreweries, restaurants, and pubs. You can get to Miller Park very easily and quickly... maybe 15 minutes, max.

Room Tip: We got the room for $85 via bid on a baseball weekend before the snow flies. I bet you can get a ro...
