“1-night tripper”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed July 24, 2013

I would keep this hotel in the mix if I were ever going to Milwaukee for 1 night, as it is near the highway and a short drive to downtown, miller park or the airport.

Would I stay for even 2 nights? or more? big emphatic, NO. The staff seemed extremely worn out, the A/C units, as mentioned in other reviews, do not work properly. It is probably an old system in need of serious updating/replacing. Anyway, by 5 am I woke up drenched and we had the temp in the room set to the lowest level!

The fire alarms went off at 1 am for some reason. The complimentary breakfast is a nice perk, but at that point, we just wanted out, so we took a short drive to either IHOP (which is closed while the kitchen is remodeled) or Perkins.

the rooms all have Sleep Number beds which is an odd feature to put in a hotel. Anyway, the controls don't really work as you can't set it to a number, you just hold up or down until the bed is comfortable. and you need to hold the button down for a good 30 seconds before anything starts happening, so i can understand people thinking that it is broken, and end up sleeping on a very firm, uncomfortable mattress.

Anyway, many other 'value' hotels are located right near this, with Fairfield Inn being almost right across the street. Would stay at just about all of the other options before trying this place again.

2.5 star rating is generous for this place.

Room Tip: was told that the double bed rooms were all surrounding their 'conference center'/banquet ha...

We were in a room that was promised a rollaway. It took over a hour to come to our room. The rooms smelled of damp basements! Wet damp carpets wet bedding! Asked for a different room in morning we were moved to a different floor. Put our luggage in room and left
To visit family. Returned at Ten pm to find someone had been given our room and our luggage was gone! Took over an hour to find it. Missing things etc! Put us in a room that was open to a reception that was so loud our room was divesting the music was so loud! My grandson who is autistic had a total melt down was made to wait in lobby crying and screaming he just wanted a room!! It was disgusting dirty damp the desk clerk was rude! I will never go here again. Please take heed and stay away!

I assure you the room I stayed in over the weekend looked absolutely nothing like those in the "professional pictures". The a/c blew water vapor into the room and left every fabric in the room damp, including the bedding. Nothing more romantic than that feeling. Camping in a rainstorm beats it hands down. The room smelled like a basement with a dirt floor. That, along with the dim lighting and poor analog tv, gives you the feeling of spending time in a Bulgarian brothel, and I may be insulting the Bulgarian brothel. The sleep number beds that are inoperable are a real bonus. You barely notice the smell of the room when you wake up with an aching back. The kicker though is the warm feeling when you enter door B, look down on the concrete and see where someone scratched out the Twisted Sister symbol TS, into the concrete when it was poured. If you remember when MTV had videos, you know the symbol. You know then, that the problem may go back to the headbangers who built this hole.

Room Tip: drive by, don't look and be thankful you read my post.

This visit has probably ended any chance of a future stay with the Ramada chain. The room was clammy due to an undersized air conditioning unit that put out a fine mist when running, but had to be kept running due to the fact it was an interior room with no windows to the outside that could be opened for a breeze. This would also cause the 'musty' smell that pervaded the entire lower level. The sleep number beds were out of order, so no adjustment could be made on them. My chiropractor is overjoyed though. An overnight in a small cave would have been more comfortable. We were with a group that had 8 rooms rented. We checked out a day early. The rest of the group got a complimentary night stay due to the problems.

Lets start by saying, if I was able to go negative on the rating scale, I would! This was my worst hotel experience ever... I have stayed at hotels that cost $30.00 a night, and were more pleasant than this one, at $130 a night... Got there to check in at 3:00pm, not able to, no rooms ready and they were not sure when they would be. Got back at 9:30pm assigned two rooms near a super loud party... One was occupied when we entered, the second one we couldn't even get into, the staff at the front desk told us that maybe we should have tried to jiggle the handle. Once reassigned new rooms, we went in, and they were decent enough, minus the missing bed skirts, broken sleep number beds, and half filled shampoo, lotion, and mouthwash bottles, it was clean enough. Headed to the bar, we were very rudely greeted. The wine was good at least! Well went back to our rooms, and hung out until the super loud party that was held in the cent of the hotel was over, and went to bed. Shortly after, the fire alarm went off for maybe a minute waking the whole hotel and no reason as to why it went off. Well morning finally arrived, and we checked out. After checking out and on our way home, we check our credit card statements showing a charge for an amount we had no record of. We called to ask about it, and no one could tell us what it was. They stated the only person that was able to charge accounts was only in on week days. Okay, so you can charge our cards on the weekend, but can't tell us what for?! Thats a whole bunch of crap if you ask me!! So to sum it all up, really crappy, rude staff, mediocre rooms, and well I honestly have nothing good to say. I would sleep in my car before staying here again.

Room Tip: Go somewhere else.

Ramada Plaza was clean and comfortable. The staff were all very friendly and helpful. It is a great value with easy access to anywhere you want to go in Milwaukee and far enough out of the rush of downtown. The complimentary breakfast was a pleasant plus. I would stay here any time I am in Milwakuee
