“Nice renovation”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 1 week ago

I had stayed at this property several years ago when it was a Hilton and found it rather lackluster then. They rebranded to a Holiday Inn late last year, according to the front desk clerk, and have completely renovated the property.

The front desk staff was great from checkin to checkout. As mentioned, the rooms have been completely redone and have a sleek, modern feel to them. The bed (king) was firm and very comfortable and had real king size pillows. The bathroom was also redone and nicely finished but, unfortunately, kept the same very small floorplan. Not so bad for a single traveler, but couples/families might be bumping in to each other. The room had a safe in the closet but no fridge. There was a large TV mounted on the wall that had about 40-something basic cable channels plus HBO and quite a few were HD. The wireless internet speed was good while I was there.

I had a couple of meals at the bar/restaurant and found the food to be pretty good in quality but the service, unlike the front desk, could be indifferent.

Overall, they have done a pretty good job with the property and if I have to be back in that part of Milwaukee, I wouldn't hesitate to stay there again.

First time I have stayed at this hotel. Check in was fast and very friendly. The staff here is very nice. The hotel is recently remodeled. In fact, I think they are still finishing up some areas.

The lobby is very nice and modern. It is nicely decorated. There are 4 very large screen TV's for viewing with a fireplace. Modern tables to sit at. The bar is in the lobby and it looks nice. Two TV's behind the bar to watch. It looks very relaxing to sit and have a drink after work.

The hotel is located on the Milwaukee River. Their is a patio in the back where you might be able to sit in warmer weather. Maybe they are not finished, but the landscaping along the river is not too much to look at.

The elevator to the 5th floor seems a little old and slow but it is adequate. My room was nicely decorated. The desk and work station was nice and easy to use. The Wi-Fi worked great. The bathroom is from the age when they built hotels, they made the bathroom small. This is true here. The bathroom is small but nicely decorated. No frig in the room. I do like having a frig in the room. They do have a basket for recycling in the room. I like that they recycle.

The hotel has the River's Edge Lounge where you can get a drink and Pub food. It opens up at 5:00 PM. The Anchorage is attached to the hotel and serves Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner.

The hotel has a couple large meeting rooms. They have an office work place in the lobby with a couple of computers and printer.

You can hear some road noise in the room. Major highway beside the hotel.

The exercise room was not yet finished. It would be another day or two before it could be used. Also, the pool was under construction so it could not be used.

Nice hotel with a very friendly staff. I would gladly come back.

The only reason I gave four stars instead of five stars was because there was only coffee in the room. When I went downstairs to get tea bags, they gave me two and charged me $2.75. They should have been in the room and free. Little touches like this can make the difference between a "good" stay and a "great" stay.

This hotel is going through a remodeling of both its inside and outside. Great staff, clean rooms. Restaurant and bar have a nice combo of kicking back after a work day and a view of the river. Only downfall is that we stayed on the fifth floor and it took at least 5-6 minutes to get any hot water! If they can figure out how to fix the problem, worth the money!

Room Tip: stay on the lower floors

The Basilica of St. Mary braved the 6 hour drive to Milwaukee in order to sing their sweet heart outs at the Catholic Home and the St. John's Cathedral in downtown Milwaukee. The Holiday Inn Milwaukee Riverfront was the most accomodating while making reservations. Jason, the sales manager, worked with us on room rates, room assignments and ensuring we all received great care and treatment. Jason exceeded our expectations. Our choristers had a great time. These children range from 10-16 and the hotel did not receive one complaint on noise or behavior from our group. We are so pleased. A bonus surprise was waking up to free breakfast and having it be a full-buffet with views of the river that were astonishing. Thank you Jason and Jill for helpng to make making our weekend a success.

Room Tip: Great place to stay in Milwaukee. Close to everything. Right on the river and the renovations make t...

Not expecting much from a Holiday Inn, but my stay was very pleasant. Staff is super nice. Hotel is modern and clean. Bar has great beers and the best Caesar salad I have had in a while (with Anchovies and real dressing!).

Room Tip: Good for business
