“Good hotel....too many people checking in at the same time”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 4, 2010

We had a pretty good stay at the Hampton Inn downtown Milwaukee. I wasn't sure it was going to be so good when we checked in...there was a large group (100+) in line to check in and only 2 people at the desk. That would have taken forever but somebody let me go in front of them which was the next in line. The problem with this large group was we couldn't really eat breakfast either day of our stay becuase the breakfast bar was absolutely overwhelmed with people. HIghly unusual, in fact I used to be Hilton Diamond and I never ran into this before. We reserved a king with a roll away for our teenager. The first room was like a closet and wouln't fit the roll away. Even in all that commotion they moved us in like 2 minutes to a much better room. We travel frequently to Milwaukee because our son is at Marquette University. I am a HIlton Honors member and always stay at HIton properties...of the Doubletree, Hilton and the Hampton in downtown Milwaukee, I prefer the Hampton. Cheap parking and no required valet parking. Plus the free breakfast is great although we couldn't eat it this trip because of the large group.

This is one of the nicest Hampton Inn's that I have stayed at. It is centrally located in downtown Milwaukee. Both breakfast and the evening reception were nice. Lobby was well-arranged for having informal business discussions.

We stayed at the Hampton Inn for 3 nights.

The hotel is located slap bang downtown. Downtown is somewhat of a Ghost Town, so don't expect much life or things to do!

But back to the hotel. The staff are really friendly and helpful. The rooms are large and comfortable. The beds were very comfortable, the bathrooms clean and come with Shampoo, Conditioner, Lotion & MOUTHWASH! That was an added bonus! Rooms also have basic cable and free Wi-Fi, both definite musts in a hotel stay.

Complimentary breakfast was very good. They switched it up every day so there was always something different on the menu (omlettes one day, french toast another...)

In comparrison to the Hyatt which we also stayed at, hands down this is much better value for money. With free Wi-Fi (vs the Hyatt $9.99 a day), free breakfast (vs the Hyatts no breakfast!)... the rooms are pretty similar, except for more variety of free toiletries in the Hampton Inn.

Well recommended by us! If you're considering this hotel, go for it!

The reviews I read on this hotel were mixed, but I couldn't pass up the $104 government employee rate for our weekend stay here. Even the regular price is a good deal tho! The hotel IS a make over of a smaller hotel and it is a little disjointed, but we didn't come to Milwaukee to enjoy our hotel room! We came to be close to the river, the third ward, and the museums and restaurants - which we are! you can walk the whole city if you want to, or there is a free trolley that goes around downtown. The staff was beyond helpful and attentive. I asked for towels and tea, and there was an immediate response. This king bed was not the most comfortable I've ever slept in, but it was not the worst either. I don't really have any other complaints about this place. We would bring our kids here.

I always like to stay at Hampton's because of their cleanliness and sleep quality. This hotel was no exception! It made our trip to Summerfest a fun and uneventful (meaning: no problem) trip! The staff was very helpul, letting us know about the many options for transportation to Summerfest (free shuttles - within walking distance - and public transportation - across the street). They also offered suggestions for eating in the area (I'd recommend Mo's and The Safehouse). Overall, this was a wonderful place to stay if you want to enjoy the great food and music of Summerfest!

This Hampton Inn seemed to be a makeover of some much older hotel.
Our room was very small, and although we were charged for a queen-size bed/room, it was very obviously a double bed. They insisted it was a queen bed when we complained at the front desk. The climate in our room was hard to keep moderate (it got cold, then very hot, dry and noisy from the fan). That combined with the tight quarters in the bed meant that neither of us slept well at all and we were glad to return home the next day! Maybe if you paid extra for a king bed you'd at least get a queen-size one.
We were in town for a company holiday party at the Harley Davidson museum (a great place!), and I'd probably recommend one of the newer motels west of downtown, near the HD museum unless you really need to be right downtown. The hotel was clean, the complimentary breakfast was great, and the staff were very nice, but we wouldn't stay there again as it wasn't good value for the $$.
Hampton Inns typically have very small, white-tiled pools and this was no exception. Also, be warned that you will be charged $14 for using the parking ramp that abuts this hotel, and downtown Milwaukee doesn't have any other parking options nearby that are very safe or less expensive.

My husband and I just got back from a weekend in Milwaukee. We picked the Hamptom Inn because of cost and location. We were very pleased with our stay. The rooms were clean and the beds extremely comfortable. The breakfast was free and a nice way to start the day. The hotel is located within walking distance to many of the sites of Milwaukee and next to Mo's Irish Pub. The pub not only was a fun place to get a drink but they also had a free shuttle to Miller Park (which was extremely convenient and a fun way to travel). I would also recommend the Pabst Mansion tour during a stay in Milwaukee. Our tour guide was very impressive and knowledgeable.
