“A classy place to stay in Milwaukee”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 15, 2013

This hotel offers Old World charm in an updated setting. The staff is very welcoming and friendly. Some areas of the hotel are currently undergoing refurbishing. When out room was not to our liking, the hotel finally offered us a suite. It had been totally and tastefully refurbished. There is also a "tower" which is apparently more modern. Wifi is extra, as are phone calls--even 800 lines. Food in the hotel was very good and reasonably priced.

Room Tip: Don't accept a tiny room or a room near construction (tarp over window).

Thank you so much for your kind words and for taking the time to share about your experience here with us at the Pfister. We strive to be a home away from home and most of all hope to welcome you back in the near future. The staff are truly incredible and make the Pfister as special as it is.

We know you have many choices when visiting Milwaukee and we are again so thankful and privileged that you chose us. Best wishes and safe travels.

My wife and I were in the Milwaukee area for several days after a business trip in Chicago, and while the hotel is beautiful and well-appointed, our experience with the Pfister's customer service left much to be desired.
We booked a night at the Pfister as a celebration to cap off a busy week of work, and our first staff interaction (the valet) was not great. While he was helpful in unloading our bags from the car and bringing them inside while we went to check in, he left them sitting in the middle of the lobby and walked away. Why not bring them 10 feet further to the bag check stand? I left the front desk and found them sitting unattended...if I had known he wouldn't tell me he was leaving them there, I would have hauled them myself.
We arrived at 2:45 on Friday the 18th, and the man at the desk told us our room was not ready yet (not too big of a deal w/ 15 minutes til check-in time). He took down my phone number and told me he would call when the room was ready and directed us to the Cafe where we could wait and get a coffee. After 40 minutes, my wife went back to the front desk to check on the progress, and the same man said that housekeeping had not started cleaning the room yet. He called to put a rush on it, but did not offer an apology or anything more than a shoulder shrug.

Another 20 minutes go by, and we go back to the desk to check, and a host tells us "Oh, your room has been ready.", and no one had called us. When we get to our room (king room #636, historic section of the hotel), we notice a large stain on one of the pillows that looks like blood. I called housekeeping immediately, and they were helpful and came to change all the pillows immediately.

The rest of our stay was fine, but these poor customer service experiences left a bad taste in our mouths. I understand that hotels are busy on weekend nights, especially with a large event like the Pfister had that night, but there is no excuse for poor service in a four diamond hotel. We enjoyed our room, the bed was comfortable, and we loved getting a drink at Blu later in the evening...the view out onto the lake was incredible.

I hesitate to recommend the Pfister based on our experience. I hope that our experience was an uncommon one, and I would be hard pressed to select this hotel again.

I love this hotel. Rooms are nice. Everything met my expectations and the staff is very courteous and helpful. I booked on Hotwire and got a great price too :) love the location. Blu bar was not my style. More of an older crowd but the view is cool.

The hotel must have been the nicest in town for years, but it has seen better days. The service is impeccable and the rooms comfortable, but the carpet is worn, wallpaper faded and the furniture could use refinishing.

We attended a wedding at the Phister and it was absolutely great. The wedding couple said that the Phister was very easy to work with and made their special day, well, special! Mason Street Grill had a great Jazz Funk Band playing on Friday night, the martinis were excellent, and the appetizers were very good. Upstairs on the 23 floor resides Blu, a lounge that has awesome views of Milwaukee and also has great drinks and appetizers. All in all, the Phister is one of our favorite hotels to stay in combing old world charm and old fashioned great service.

If you go to MIlwaukee you have to experience the Pfister. The staff is amazing and the hotel is gorgeous. Very quaint historical hotel. It is close to the Third Ward which has great shopping and dining. Close to Lake Michigan. We walked everywhere. Looking forward to our next trip!

We went here 2 or 3 times for my husband's work xmas party. The hotel has a very historic feel to it, but is very clean. The food is awesome and the rooms are on the larger size. One time we even went when the baltimore ravens and cleveland cavaliers were staying here! Never had a bad experience here.
