“Very nice hotel in a so-so area”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 4, 2011

This is by far the best option near MKE. Other hotels near the airport are very old and tired. Old hotel that was totally rennovated when Hyatt took over. Free and prompt airport shuttle, huge rooms with nice furniture, great lighting, large flat-screens, nice bed...Very friendly staff and shuttle driver. Check-in/out was a breeze. Limited "free" breakfast but numerous better options on the menu. Nice bar area so you don't have to leave the property if you want a drink and/or snack. Overall, a very good hotel with a great staff.

This is a great airport hotel, and typical of what you'd see of any newer business-style hotel. The rooms look exactly like the pictures on TripAdvisor, so I don't have much to add beyond that. It's just a lot of nice touches, like a blanket in the cabinet next to the couch, or how aesthetically pleasing it all is. Only downside, which is hardly uncommon, is that the rooms have AC units within three feet of the bed, though they're reasonably quiet.

The TVs are large and have RCA inputs (no HDMI), so if you wanted to bring a video game system for kids or play movies from a phone or iPad or something that's possible. The alarm clock has an audio input (1/8" jack).

Internet isn't going to set any speed records. It's responsive and will bring up pages quickly, but video intensive or downloading a ton of email aren't going to be pleasant. The WiFi coverage is good - I'm way out toward the edge of the hotel where WiFI is typically the worst in hotels. There's also a cable ethernet jack, though I didn't test it.

The view is rough, but that's not their fault. Nothing around General Mitchell is particularly attractive. There's tons of food nearby though (a lot of chains, Night Owl for burgers/ice cream, or JT Bones at the gas station on Layton & Howell for BBQ), so it kind of evens out. The highway access and airport proximity couldn't be better.

I've seen four hotels now near the airport, and this is hands down the best one in every respect.

The rooms are clean and staff is friendly. We were able to park around back with no problem. The A/c in the room works well, but a little load. Overall a great pick if you are staying around here. We will stay here again in the future.

The best part of this hotel is it's wonderful staff. Joseph, Marina and Isa in particular were very helpful and friendly. The rooms are very nice. We stayed on the 4th floor and the position of the a/c unit next to the desk is a little awkward. The morning breakfasts were very good wth cereal, fruit, muffins or danish and either oatmeal or biscuits and gravy. Now here's the bad part. The room smelled incredibly musty and was like that anytime the air was above 70 degrees. On the second night of our stay, we found a centipede in the toilet. Bugs don't typically freak me out but I think I would have understood more if we had been on the ground floor. Where did that sucker come from? The front desk staff came upstairs, gave the bug a burial at sea and told me the manager would be contacting me. Um, yeah, still waiting on that. In fact, truthfully, I don't know if there really IS a manager at this hotel since I never saw him or her. The next morning, my friend found ANOTHER bug in the bathroom - this one big and black. We told the front desk staff about it as we were leaving for the day and she looked at me as if trying to understand the problem. Finally she agreed to send the maintenance man, Bob, up to the room but then I heard another clerk tell her the maintenance guy had already left for the day. (It was 10am) So 2 bugs in a 4th floor room and still NEVER heard from the manager. The biggest plus of this hotel is it's staff but having spent a week in Milwaukee, everyone is so friendly and I'm not sure, honestly, that I would stay here again. Ultimately, I am not unreasonable and ANY contact from the manager might have changed my opinion.

the good news is, the hotel is new, and the rooms are nice and nicely designed, and it has _great_ sound insulation from the airport. The bad news is, the wifi is extremely slow, and the HVAC is quite loud.

This is a great business hotel - much like Holiday Inn Express, except way nicer. The rooms are brand new and huge with a seating area with L-shaped couch, bar with built-in fridge, wall-mounted flatscreen TV, separate changing area with closet and a little den-like area.

The Internet is free and fast, no hassles. Front desk staff is very friendly. There's a small bar (with wine, liquor, and beers) in the lobby that also sells sandwiches and to-go meals. The daily free breakfast includes a lot of fruit, cereals, bread, and usually a hot dish - when we were there it was oatmeal one day and biscuits and gravy the other. There's also a full kitchen where you can order whatever you want. It's made-to-order and open late at night.

Fitness room is small it has two nice treadmills, an elliptical. Pool is also small about 4-5 ft in depth.

Overall, we were real comfortable. We paid about $90 a night - a steal considering what you get.

I stopped here for one night on my way through. The price was excellent, and the courtesy van was there to pick me up at the airport within 5 minutes. Very courteous staff checked me in, and offered tour of hotel which I declined. The bar area looked to be lively. The room is a semi-suite, very tastefully decorated. I had breakfast in the morning ordering through the Gallery system which is kind of silly since the people are riight there but does add total to room bill. Prices were reasonable for a hotel. When I checked out, had a ride back to the airport immediately.

My only gripe was the amount of road noise that was heard in the room. I faced the street with a warehouse across the adjacent highway. Lot of semis engine braking during the night. The blackout curtains need to be longer also, as the light from the parking lot outside th window was able to shine in.

I would stay here again, just as long as I could stay on the other side of the hotel.
