“New Year's Eve stay.....”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 23, 2012

As friends with a friend of the owners, we were part of a group of about 20 people who drove to the Audubon Inn a few years ago to celebrate New Years Eve. We stayed for two nights, in our cosy, comfortable rooms and had a wonderful weekend. We were welcomed by the owners when we arrived, and shown to our rooms......the cocktail lounge was a nice respite after the drive, and the dining room was comfortable with good food and good service. Saturday was NY Eve, and the service was a little slow, because I think they had help that was not used to serving, so it got a little confused.....but all turned out well, and we had a great time.

We have started a tradition for our anniversary of picking a small town in Wisconsin and staying the evening. Mayville and the Audobonn in did not disappoint! The Audobonn is a renovated hotel from the 1880's. We were able to get in early. The room and view were adorable. The bed was comfortable and everything was decorated perfect. As requested a wonderful bottle of sparking wine was sent to the room and the selection was delicious. We walked around the hotel a bit and found it quite cozy. I wanted to grab and old book and sit in a comfortable chair and read. We strolled through town a bit. Got a snack at a Mexican restaurant with was good then on to another bar that we visited several times throughout the day and night. We went back to the Audobonn inn as now the bar and restaurant were open. The bartender enjoyed his career and had several unique recipes. He makes is own infused vodka. A citrus, strawberry pomegranate,an apple, and a spicy garden for bloody marys. I chose the strawberry pomegrante with a frozen pureed watermelon ball and fresh mint leaves. Very refreshing and fresh! Dinner was fantastic. We spite the onion rings and blue cheese hamburger, cooked perfectly! We were stuffed and walked around the town, past museums and over bridges. We ended back at the inn for coffee and a molten lava brownie cake and home made "cool whip" everything was freshly made that day. We went back to the other bar and met a lot of nice local people. We went back using the night key and got a bottle of wine and sat and watched tv in the room (much needed private r&r time). Breakfast was just perfect since we picked it out the night before. Tea, coffee, eggs, fruit, bread, and yogurt. Had another good conversation with staff. Everyone we met seemed genuinely happy and happy in their jobs. We are definitely going back. We took tip from several locals and went into the town of Theresa and to the chocolatier who is blind and makes is own chocolates and runs his own store. We selected and ordered several chocolates from him and were not disappointed. I would be happy to go back for more. This is a wonderful place to stay and visit. Thank you!

The Audbubon Inn is a excellent getaway whether you're a birder or not. Just miles from the amazing Horicon Marsh, the Audubon Inn is also blocks from some great nature trails. The rooms are lovely and very clean; the food in the main level Beaumont Restaurant is excellent. The Beaumont's bar is a great place to enjoy a beverage and mingle if you're inclined. The Audubon also provides guests a tasty Continental breakfast in the morning. We have stayed with them twice and are already looking forward to returning in a few months.

The Audubon Inn is a very beautiful bed and breakfast/hotel! The atmosphere and ambiance is exceptional. The rooms were very clean and welcoming. The hot tub in the room is an added bonus for relaxing and enjoying a glass of wine!! Mayville is a quaint little town that is definitely worth seeing and it is also near the Horicon Marsh as well!! I would highly recommend a romantic evening for two at this beautifully decorated B & B/hotel!!!

I read the previous negative reviews regarding the tired rooms at The Audubon and I agree that the rooms are not luxury. Oh well. You're in Mayville, Wisconsin, the economy is difficult at best for a small privately owned business. I am thankful for the wonderful food and usually great service at The Audubon. We had my sister's 55th birthday party there and the staff could not have been more gracious, we are having my Mother's birthday party there in September. Try the Audubon again and let them know your complaints up front.

This was a wonderful Bed and breakfast. It is a very clean and quaint hotel. Unlike normal B and B's, each room is fully equipped with it's own bathroom. It has a wonderful restaurant, with wonderful home made food that was very tasty and reasonable. The rooms were clean and decorated beautifully. A perfect romantic evening away from it all!
