“Don't miss tour of the USS Cobia”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 5, 2014

Great tour of a WWII submarine- asked the tour guide if it could still go underwater, and they said yes- one more time only. I guess the US Navy sends it's reservists to do weekend training by keeping the old girl cleaned up and it's engines operational, which is pretty cool. The museum is also pretty neat, there is a lot more shipbuilding and shipping history on the Great Lakes than you'd think.

“Super Sub”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 14, 2013

This maritime museum provides a good amount of information on the Great Lakes shipping industry. It really shines however with the USS Cobia moored outside the museum. I have been aboard many museum submarines around the world and this is clearly the best preserved and maintained; I understand they turn the engines over several times a year. The guide was instructive and very knowledgeable about the Cobia's features and history.

“Great history lesson”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 28, 2013 via mobile

We've visited several maritime museums and this one is above average for having interactive displays and interesting exhibits. We even played in the kids waterway exhibit. There is a steam engine and many model ships. The submarine tour was informative.

“Great place to visit.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 25, 2013

Very interesting. I took my 9 year old grand daughter and she loved being able to tour the sub. Our guide was very informative and knew what she was talking about. I think it would be good for kids ages 5 and up. Plan on several hours.

“Great Museum on the shores of Lake Michigan-Great SUB tour”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 20, 2013

The museum was on our must see list once we knew we'd be staying in Manitowoc. The museum is laid out nicely and easy to navigate from exhibit to exhibit. My husband enjoyed the area where you could sit and listen to some of the stories (on a monitor) of some of the sailors. Be sure to do the tour of the Submarine. You do get a whole new found appreciation for the sailors that actually served on the sub and endured all you must as you live for months underwater and in such confined areas. Our tour guide was terrific and able to answer all of our questions and then some. Would highly recommend this tour to everyone interested in military history
