“Lakeside dining at its finest”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 20, 2012

It had been 25 years since I ate at the Blue Bayou and although Walter has passed, the food is still incredibly good and the atmosphere is inviting. White linen tablecoths and napkins, beautiful place settings, and a view of the lake create a lovely ambience. Our server was attentive and entertaining from the first course pate with fresh bread through the bisque, salad cart, and entree of blackened scallops cooked to perfection and served with baby red potatoes and vegetable. Wine list includes nice choices. We were too full for dessert!

“New Orleans in the Northwoods”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed September 13, 2012

Several years had passed prior to our recent visit. We had forgotten how good the food and setting is but will not allow so much time pass before we return. With soup, salad, and appetizer's included, ordering appetizers would be overkill. The cajun sampler was perfectly spiced and large enough to take for next day's lunch. Service is very efficient - a little slow by local standards.but they do advise diners to allow two hours. Prices are what one should expect for food of this quality and quantity. The desserts were quite tempting but we resisted and by the next morning we wished we had taken one for breakfast. Next time for sure.

“Dining EXPERIENCE”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 4, 2012

We have been enjoying great dining experiences at Blue Bayou for many years. You need to arrive with the expectation that you will be here for at least 2 hours. So sit back, relax and let the staff take care of things for you. From delicious drink recipes, through the five or six courses of your meal, the lovely lakeside atmosphere (you might see fisherpeople bringing in their catch to have chef prepare it for them) and knowledgeable waitstaff; if you like dining journeys, then you'll appreciate their craft.
There are some reviews that have said things were too spicy/salty. We would say that the blackened items are on the salty side. We've tried many items on the menu and always look forward to the chef's specials, too. They are well prepared with great sides accompanying them. Always look forward to the next time there!

“Our 2nd visit was a major disappointment.”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed August 29, 2012

Upon entering we were ignored for a good 10 - 15 minutes. Once someone "greeted" us, we had to wait another 15 minutes to get a table, even though we had a reservation. Our dining experience lasted over three hours, although the food was outstanding. Service really needs to be worked on. Very young, inexperienced servers just could not handle the flow of food and serving beverages. Good food but paced way too slow.
