My wife and I had never been to a B&B before, so this was an adventure for us. She had been to Lake Geneva, I had not. It was a surprise trip for me -- she planned it all and I had no idea where we were going until we were 10min. away.

From the outside, the building looks small. How deceiving it is! Inside, it's gorgeous! Very nicely decorated and very clean and taken care of. There are four rooms -- we stayed in the Mozart. It had its own private bath and one bed.

We arrived around 2pm, checked in and met Maria. What a wonderful person! She showed us around and gave us maps and tips to use for the day in town. My wife and I took the short walk (less than 5min.) into town where we spent the next 4-5 hours going in and out of the shops, restaurants, etc. It was a great day -- April 18th and about 65 degrees and partly sunny!

For dinner, we ended up at Gino's East. We weren't interested in anything real "formal." We were in jeans in a shirt, so we wanted something casual. We had a nice meal here...

The next morning, we had breakfast with another couple that Marie prepared. Wow! What a nice breakfast and time we had! Maria is an excellent cook -- made a meal for all of us based on what WE wanted! The coffee? YUM!

We took off shortly after breakfast for home. Overall, it couldn't have been any better. Nice lodging, great food and great people -- what more do you need?

If you get the chance to stay here, be sure to do so -- you won't regret it!

  • Liked — Maria -- she was a great host!

This was the first experience for us at a B&B so I was a bit nervous. We found ourselves feeling so comfortable I felt like we were with family! The house was perfect and our room (The Dresden) was very cozy. The whirlpool bath was a huge plus. Maria's breakfast in the mornings were amazing. You have the opportunity to relax by yourselves or mingle with your hosts or other guests. I can not say enough good things about this location. Their hospitality is unbelievable and we will definitley be going back soon.

Maria and Edwin, our hosts were warm, knowlegeable and great cooks! We had many questions about out of the way sites, local produce and interesting restaurants. Both had great ideas, provided magazine articles, maps, whatever we needed and weren't offended if we decided not to go anywhere but just luzuriate in our room. Each room has hand picked antiques, candies in the candy dish and gas fireplaces. We were able to sit outside and enjoy their gardens and fenced-in patio. We had stayed a year back in their Black Forest cabin, which wasn't really a cabin, more like a small home with a kitchen, separate sitting and tv room and jacuzzi in the bedroom. Maria's breakfasts are like sitting in an intimate hotel in Heidelburg with homemade muffins, omelets, pancakes...she always asks what you are in the mood to have. We can't wait to get back to Lake Geneva and Maria's.

  • Liked — intimate and freindly
  • Disliked — wish I could get there more often

My husband and I just spent two nights at Maria's B&B - it was a such a nice experience. Our room was spacious and quaintly decorated and the bathroom with a two person jacuzzi bathtub was luxurious. The location of Maria's in relationship to the town of Lake Geneva is terrific, we walked everywhere. It was the wonderful smells wafting up the stairs to our room that brought us down for breakfast. Wonderful German coffee, perfect melon, turkey ham, pitchers of orange juice, Maria's quiche and homemade baked goods and cherry jam made by Edwin the day before - breakfasts at Maria's are amazing. We and the other guests lingered around the breakfast table each morning, having lively conversation, with Maria joining in as she replenished our cups and plates. Maria knows good food and therefore is full of suggestions as to the best places to eat lunch or dinner. She also gave us advise as to the best walks along the lake. We truly felt like we had just spent the weekend with family and will certainly stay again at Maria's.
