“Horrible service! Run away!”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed yesterday NEW

I travel for a living and eat out 80% of the time. I know what good service looks like. When we arrived Saturday night at 7:30 we were a bit surprised the restaurant wasn't very busy (which should have been our first clue). Our expectations were high based on their web site propaganda (quality service and expensive entrees), however, the dinner experience started off on the wrong foot when it took over thirty minutes to get our drink order. When the food was finally delivered to our table our waiter was nowhere to be found and the server had no clue who ordered what. The presentation on the plates was appalling for this expensive venue... a small piece of meat in the middle of a white plate with no sides or garnish. We were never asked if we cared for a second drink and we had to request water refills. All in all a very disappointing experience. The only upside was the wonderful live entertainment. Don't make the same mistake as we did... avoid the Baker House... go somewhere (anywhere) else!

Baker House is a fabulous Historic home built it in 1885 set on the shores of Lake Geneva. The home has been lovingly restored with original character. It features 4 beautifully decorated and unique suites with private bathrooms and working fireplaces surrounded by original "Low Tile". The period decor allows you to experience the lifestyle of the late 1800's. Their traditional afternoon tea is delightful, with homemade pastries, finger sandwiches and a large assortment of tea. Registered guest of The Baker House receive personal Butler Service by well trained and warm personnel. In the morning, guests are treated to warm croissants, fresh fruit and hot coffee or tea, delivered on a silver platter. Cocktails are served nightly on the front lawn with breathtaking views of Lake Geneva. Small plates are also available. The Sunday Brunch is Fabulous and the eggs Benedict is beyond compare. However, what truly sets the Baker House apart from other B & B's is the gracious attention they bestow upon their guest. Guests are always greeted by their name and each request is promptly addressed. It is the people who define a B & B and The Baker House is spot on. Personable, friendly and attentive. They are the reason I return to Baker House.

Room Tip: Each room is fabulous & unique, The Versailles with Turret sitting area is Exceptional.

My wife and I went for our anniversary, and thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The rooms (only 4 in the hotel) were great. Beds were extremely comfortable. Butlers Michael and Ricardo were terrific. Didn't eat there, but was crowded at dinnertime, so it must be good. Some parts need updating, but still an extremely charming place to stay.
Would highly recommend...
Be careful when booking at other places in LG, hotel next door looked like a scene for Animal House.

Room Tip: All rooms were nice, we stayed in the Champagne room.

Just returned from a girlfriend getaway that included the traditional sun down celebration at Baker House as well as dinner. The experience is truly unique to any other lake hotel experience and I've had several in many lake side cities. From the period dress of all the staff, delicious dinner, which was difficult to choose as there were many inticing options, and lastly the impeccable decor...just stunning. All ages were enjoying it all while listening to the pianist play playful tunes that brought back memories. This hotel is ideal for any celebration for any age! They know how to do it up at the Baker House. I will return!

If you're looking for a place where you'll be treated like a king or queen, the Baker House is the place to stay in Lake Geneva, WI. We stayed in the Versailles Suite which was luxury with a capital L. Our butlers, Michael and Brent were friendly, attentive and just wonderful. The warm croissants and overflowing fruit cup were a perfect breakfast treat. The restaurant serves dinner that is to die for. We had the filet mignon and it was melt-in-your-mouth perfection.

My husband and I visited the Baker House this last weekend to celebrate my birthday and his the month before. As soon as we arrived we were made to feel welcome . We were given a tour of the house and complimentary champagne. Our butler Michael was very nice and had alot of great suggestions for us about places to go for walks or special menu items. One night while dining outside in a private cabana it was looking like rain so Michael brought out an umbrella for us to walk back to the house. We also had the chance to meet Bethany the owner who did the sunset champagne toast . She was very sweet. I was interested in the tile on the fireplace in the bar and she told me where to find a book on tiles in the private sitting area. The house had so many ornate details I was blown away by its beauty!

Spent two nights at the Baker House for NYE. What an amazingly cool experience. Our Butler was top notch and our room was so comfortable and cozy. We stayed in the Bordeaux room, I believe that was the name. While I am sure Summer is a great season to stay at the Baker House, Winter was magical.
