“Back to the good old days”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 14, 2013

We just returned from our 2 night stay at the Baker's House, We stayed in the champagne suite. From the minute we stepped thru the doors we were greeted as friends even though we had never met. We had drinks outside watching the sunset one night with another couple staying there, the atmosphere was one big happy family. We had our morning breakfast in the veranda overlooking Lake Geneva. The service was amazing. We had dinner one night in the dining room, when you are a guest at the Baker's House you do not have to make a reservation, they always save a table for you. There was live music playing while we ate. I cannot say enough about the service you receive at the Baker's House. They make you feel so special. We took a tour on the mail boat delivering mail to the residents of Lake Geneva. The boat ride was a litte chilly but worth it, how fun it was seeing Anna jump off the boat to deliver the mail and then jump back on the boat. The champagne suite was a delightful step back in time.

Room Tip: I think any room at the Baker's House would be an experience

We spent Labor Day Weekend at the Baker House. From the moment we arrived to the morning of our departure, Baker House was splendid! First off, how can you go wrong with a personal butler. Jonathon was there to truly take care of us and he did beyond our wildest expectations. He gave us a tour, provided history, coordinated off site visits, and made great recommendations every day of our visit. In fact, all of the staff were there to take care of your every need. They were attentive but not overly so. Dinners and drinks were fantastic, all prepared with the freshest ingredients. Sunday Brunch was to die for! Our room was wonderful..staying in Bordeaux Room was a great experience. The bed was very comfortable and the whirlpool tub was great. Interestingly in an old house, there was absolutely no sounds from adjoining suites. Finally we were able to experience the Cabaret Theater which was outstanding. All of the employees take pride in the Baker House. We have stayed at B&B's around the country, the Baker House is at the top of our list! Andrew & Bethany really know what they are doing. We will be back!

Our son got us a package to spend the evening here for the "trip back in time" experience. I must say it was rather unique. There were many vintage items. The staff really went out of their way to make our stay enjoyable. The willingness to do a little extra to make our experience more enjoyable was everywhere. We really enjoyed the brunch on Sunday morning. The food, the setting and the view were all excellent.

What a fabulous and unique place to stay!

We have just spent three days in this delightful hotel, staying in the Provence Suite. The service and attention to detail was top notch.

We were greeted by Bethany, the owner, who was dressed in period clothes, as were all the staff. They all made us feel very welcome and more like honoured guests than customers. All staff took time to greet us and Check if we needed anything throughout our stay. Particular mention must be made of Jonathan, our designated butler, who happily tended to all our needs throughout the day and evenings.

The decor is just fantastic, with many period furnishings and accessories, especially many vintage and retro hats, which guests are encouraged to take advantage of at mealtimes.

It is also (primarily?) a very popular restaurant and there is a great atmosphere around the various busy dining rooms and the bar, but a table was always made available for us immediately we put in an appearance. We particularly enjoyed the 'small', sharing plates that were an option on the menu, and the sunset toast when all diners were invited outside into the gardens with a glass of sparkling wine.

Did I mention the steam shower? Bliss.

Being based in Britain, it is somewhat out of our normal range, but we would just love to go back, especially for one of their speciality evenings which I am sure would be beautifully organised.

If you get the chance to stay here, do so. We were delighted with our stay.

Jim & Caroline

A beautiful setting. Dinner was more of a unique experience than an epicurean delight. At how many restaurants do you get a 5 stars welcome? From Katrina to every other staff member we were well treated. The restored architecture was wonderful. The food was very interesting. Our group of 8 concentrated on appetizers for dinner. It's definitely a place to experience.

After reading the reviews on The Baker House my wife and I decided to give it a try. Needless to say the reviews had it right. What a wonderful experience. We drove in early to have their Sunday brunch before checking in to the hotel. Katrina greeted us at the reception area and from then on we were treated to wonderful food, a fantastic suite and outstanding service by the staff. Katrina gave us a tour and some historical highlights of the property before seating us at our table. Brent was our butler and he made the stay at Baker House a journey back in time. He showed us to our suite and the second floor lounge areas for guests with the wonderful antiques and period décor. It captured a snapshot in time when the house was at it's prime and how the people might have lived in such elegance even if it was only their summer cottage. Brent was always available and provided us with fantastic service during our stay. Both brunch and dinner were excellent and the sunset toast was a delight. Check out went smoothly and we received a little treat basket for our drive home. During our stay we were treated more like family than a guest in a hotel. Will be back to the Baker House again.

The Baker House is a fabulous place to stay.
We went there, my husband and I, to spend 3 nights in this unusual place.
We received a 5 stars welcome. The butler was particularly friendly and welcoming.
We had a complete visit of the House and they gave us a glass of champagne.
Our room (Bordeaux room) was fantastic. Each detail was carefully thought.
It is really a place out of time. The staff is dressed up and it is really nice.
There is a background music which is very nice and relaxing.
You have really the impression to be a VIP.
The breakfast is particularly good: great coffee, fresh fruits and especially good croissants, and pains au chocolat.
We had the opportunity to taste also the restaurant and the food was really good too.
Of course, the price is expensive but having this experience once in your lifetime is priceless!!!
If you go to Lake Geneva, do not hesitate to stop at the Baker House. It is worth it!
