“Unlike any restaurant experience I've ever had!!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 29, 2011

We chose the baker house because unlike most Lake Geneva restaurants it was not ridiculously overpriced. It is a tapas style restaurant which neither my husband or I had ever experienced. Tapas is appetizer portions meant to be shared. It sounded fun and different so we booked a reservation.

The restaurant is an old summer home built in the late 1800s. It is pretty much a mansion converted into a restaurant. It was very cool! We ate in the library but there are lots of rooms and also dining outside with a view of Geneva Lake. The waitresses and waiters are all dressed in 1800s fashion and encourage the patrons to barrow and wear a hat for the evening which we did.

Our server was Lola and she was really sweet and nice. She was very helpful about explaining the eating style of the restaurant and our meals was not rushed one bit. We were there for 2 hours! Which for a romantic restaurant I do not want to be rushed.

We started our meal with the cheese fondue which came with apples and bread and also the seafood parfait. If you love seafood OMG you have to order it! It is a blend of shrimp, crab and lobster with "green goddess" which I believe is cream cheese and chives and other spices. Was amazing!!! And very pretty. The cheese fondue was swiss which is not a favorite of mine but my husband enjoyed it.

For our "dinner" we ordered the beef kabobs and beef tenderloin sliders. The sliders were SO good the beef was tender and flavorful and had grilled onions. The beef kabobs had grilled squash on them and were also tasty. We also ordered the pretzel bites with 3 mustards, yummy also!

Dessert was chocolate fondue with pretzels, pineapple, strawberries, graham crackers and marshmallows. We mad 'smores! We got the dark and milk chocolates and it was divine!

The atmosphere of this place is so lovely and romantic it was unlike any restaurant we'd ever dined in! You must go here for anniversary celebrations or just for sweet quiet night together!

“Good food, Great atmosphere!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 29, 2011

Had 8:15 reservation 8/28. Greeted by friendly butler. Had drink in bar with friendly bartender who made old fashion with smashed fruit, best we've had in a long time. We had group of four and tried several different options and shared. WONDERFUL! Those that didn't want much weren't forced to eat an entire meal! We had tenderloin skewers, crab cakes, tenderloin sliders, fried green beans, fried zucchini. Everything was great. Topped off the evening with tour of rooms for rent. We will be back for a stay!

“This is a wonderful place for a group event”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 26, 2011

I brought a group of friends and business colleagues to The Baker House and it was a delightful event. The service and food were outstanding. Everyone had a wonderful time and enjoyed singing along at the piano to boot. We sat in the dining room which opened to the music room....a great choice. Thank you to all the staff.

“Great Find in Lake Geneva”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 17, 2011

We were looking for a nice place to eat along the lake that had outdoor seating. One of the shop owners pointed us to the Baker House. I am so happy they did! This is an 1885 victorian mansion that is filled with ambiance - each room in the mansion has been filled with antiques, comfortable seating and charm. They specialize in small plates and the food was very good. We had the "cocktail party for two" which was comprised of 4 beautifully done scallops in bacon, 4 skewers with a choice of chicken, beef or shrimp, and fried green beans. Because of dietary issues, we substituted the green beans for the sauteed zucchini with almonds and parmesan cheese. The scallops and the zuccini were excellent and I would highly recommend both! We also had the lime and cilantro shrimp saute which was nicely spiced. They also have a great selection of drinks. We ate on the "porch" which is glassed in and air conditioned but overlooks the lake. Afterwards, we took out drinks out to the victorian garden where there are tented seating areas among the flowers. All in all a charming place off the busy main street!

“Wonderful Experience”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 15, 2011

Yesterday went to Baker House for brunch after reading reviews and was not disappointed. The food was wonderful, service was great. Thank you to Lola, on her first day there who made our experience great, never would have known she just started. To the guys from the Pasta Bar and Omlet Bar, Your food was wonderful. Thoroughly enjoyed the crab cakes, omlet and pasta dish I tasted. Loved the costumes and decor. Will definitely eat there again.
