My husband and I stayed in the Ballroom Suite at the Bentley-Wheeler for our wedding night--what an amazing experience! For the same price that people pay to stay in a normal, tiny hotel room, we got to stay in a luxurious suite that took up the entire floor of a beautifully renovated bed and breakfast. We would describe our stay at the Bentley-Wheeler as magical, a dream come true; the breakfast in the morning is simply delicious. From what we saw of the rest of the house (and my previous stay in the guest house with friends), every part of the Bentley-Wheeler is gorgeous and comfortable--this is an experience no visitor to La Crosse should be without.

My husband and I started our weeklong trip down the Mississippi with my mom and brother in La Cross, WI. We found the Bentley-Wheeler house on line and it looked like just what we were looking for -- a beautiful Victorian home with no fussy, teddy-bears-in-every-corner kind of B&B. The BW house was even more wonderful than it looked on the web site. The decor was fantastic, with gorgous period pieces everywhere.

Ken and Jay made us feel so welcome. They were so sweet and helpful to my mom, who has trouble with stairs and was not able to make it to the 3rd floor ballroom where we were staying. They allowed her to stay in a suite on the second floor so she didn't have to go up two flights of stairs.

Ken and Jay did extensive research when they opened their B&B. They discovered that most people who stay in a B&B don't want a big, elaborate breakfast, and don't necessarily want to eat with a bunch of people who they don't know. The wonderful breakfast they provided was perfect and included something for everyones taste: fresh fruits, warm rolls, granola cereal, and yogurt accompanied by coffee, milk and orange juice. It was left outside our door in a beautiful basket. Elegant and delicious!

Ken and Jay could not have been more accomodating and helpful. They gave us directions to local sites, even calling friends to find an alternate route to Granddad Bluffs when they realized the road had been closed. The only problem staying there created for us was that, although we stayed in some great B&Bs throughout the rest of the week, none could compare to our experience at the Bentley Wheeler house. We can't wait to think of another reason to return to La Crosse so we can stay there again.

Ken and Jay who own and run the Bentley are awesome. They have done a great job of restoring it to its splendor. They made us feel right at home. So much so that we spent most of one evening sitting with them and their friends, relaxing and swapping stories

We stayed in the "Ballroom" and loved it! It is quite romantic and very private.

Breakfast was a feast brought to us in a picnic basket with terrific scones, granola and fresh fruit.

We will definitely return.

A great find. Plenty of room, four bedrooms, two baths, a huge dining room, living room, a modern kitchen and full laundry. It was July and the air conditioning was an excellent addition to making it an even better visit. The morning breakfast was fantastic, fresh fruit, yogurt, fresh scones, organic bread & cereal, juice and milk. Coffee beans with a grinder added a special touch.

A great place to have your whole family stay. We had three generations staying and there was plenty of room for everyone and the grandkids could nap in peace.

Close to downtown, plenty of parking and hosts that could not be better; helpful, knowledgeable and only there when needed.
