“Housekeeping getting worse and worse”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed September 28, 2013 via mobile

I've stayed at this Days Inn before. Each time I stay, I leave more and more disappointed. I will not be staying again. Our room stunk of mildew upon entering. The housekeeping was subpar. There was hair all over our bathroom floor. The toilet base was filty. Our lamp base had some residue all over it. One day they didn't even clean our room. Our room looked like it could use major updating -especially a good repainting. The value for the money is no longer there.

I’m truly sorry you have had the experiences expressed in your review. We have started a room by room deep cleaning and Maintenance project to insure we are able to continue to provide very clean rooms. We have also started the process to have all of our rooms upgraded with new carpet and wall covering and are addressing any mildew problems we discover. I am also pleased to announce that other upgrades have started such as 50 new Refrigerators and Microwaves have been purchased and installed for the convenience of our guest as well as enough flat screen TV’s to finish the entire hotel. Thank you for your review as this helps us target areas where we can improve our rooms and better serve you.

I really don't get the reviews. I read them before we booked our room at the Days Inn last minute and they all sounded reasonable. I'm starting to wonder if they have a new, clean section for those who plan in advance and a gross, smelly, unkempt section for the procrastinators. A hidden lesson??

All joking aside my husband and I have not been this grossed out in a long time. We have stayed in plenty of mediocre hotels traveling cross country before and they all surpassed the room we were given at the Days Inn for $106.

To start, upon entering the room, the stench was an intoxicating mix of Lysol and mildew. Enough to choke you out.

Next the room was not vacuumed at all. Or else the maid clipped her toenails near the bed before she finished cleaning, brushed them all over the floor and then walked over near the bathroom and dumped her Lorna Doone cookie crumbs all over.

Then to top it off, the mystery object... Since the floor seemed to be forgotten we thought maybe the sheets were too and lifted up the comforter to inspect. Inspection led to a husband and wife argument. Was the mystery object a swollen, moist raisin from 2 weeks ago or was it a rather large bloody booger??

We didn't stick around long enough to figure it out and left. We spent $106 on a room that we spent less than an hour in. I don't ask for much but cleanliness is just a given.

The part that amazed me was that the place was packed! Maybe we got the one and only bad room. Who knows but we won't be back.

La Crosse Days Inn, you need to step up your game and give your customers a little bit more for their money. Start with purchasing enough vacuums or hiring cleaning staff that can do a thorough cleaning before they move onto the next room.

Room Tip: A tip would be to choose another hotel.

Dear Guest,
I am so sorry you had this experience at our hotel. I think you might agree that from the reviews posted by many travelers, your visit was NOT typical of what most travelers experienced here. My regret is that we did not have the opportunity make this visit right before you left. If you would contact me I would love to get more information such as what room you stayed in and the date you checked in so I can investigate how this could have happened.
Thank you for taking the time to write your review as we take these comments very seriously and use them to improve our services to you.

We spent five days here for a group gathering, this is a older hotel past its prime. The hotel is clean and well maintained, but is showing its age. The building is two stories with no elevators. The building is a large square with a court yard in the center, half the rooms face the court yard and the other half face the outside and overlook the parking lots. The front of the hotel faces I-90 and those room could be noisier.

The free breakfast was okay, however the selection never changed, biscuits and gravy and french toast sticks along with coffee, yogurt and some fruit.

There are no laundry facilities for the guests on site. There are several laundromats less than 10 minutes from the hotel.

There is a small grocery store next door as well as a fuel station, there is not much else within walking distance.

The onsite bar restaurant/bar is okay. The drink prices are good and the nightly dinner special is a good value but nothing special.

The indoor pool is large.

According to the front desk some rooms have a refrigerator and a microwave, our room did not.

Pros:
Easy access of the Interstate
good value
onsite bar

Cons:
No washers/dryers
No elevators
older property
