“We'll be back!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 9, 2009

We planned a short stay at this gem of a B and B just to get away for a weekend, and we were throroughly impressed. Everything was immaculate and well maintained. Fine linens, beautiful furniture, one of a kind antiques, wedgwood china, and nice bath products, no attention to detail was spared. Breakfast was an incredible treat. The kind hosts were able to give good dining recommendations, and leave out wine for their guests at night, which you can sip on the lovely front porch. We went in the early fall, but would love to go back for a romanatic winter getaway. The only thing that would have made this place better would have been a fireplace in the rooms. Pricing was very reasonable.

We happened to be in Hayward for the night and found McCormick House online. What a great blessing that turned out to be. The place is every bit as beautiful as the website portrays it. The service was wonderful. We were welcomed into the inn as though we were visiting good friends… good friends with a huge beautifully decorated mansion!

The only problem with our stay is that it only lasted one night. I hope to come back some day, only for a longer stay and with some friends so that we can play croquet in the amazing gardens.

Did I mention that the breakfast was to die for? The breakfast alone is valued at $25/plate or more.

McCormick House is truly a 5 star B&B. It is as nice a most 5 star hotels and nicer than any B&B we have ever stayed in. Gourmet breakfasts are served every morning and you should not miss it. Our favortie was the French Toast! Freshly brewed coffee can be delivered to your room for those earlier risers. They also serve afternoon wine and have a fridge stocked with water and soft drinks.
The backyard is a formal English garden with pond and fountain. Overlooking the garden is a hot tub.
Jeff gave us some insightful suggestions during our stay, including West's Dairy (don't miss going there).

The McCormick House Inn was delightful. We've stayed in other B & B's and are usually put off by the frou-frou Victorian decor and prolifteration of trinkets. The McCormick House Inn is a perfect blend of classic traditional and clean-line contemporary. The rooms vary in size but all are tastefully decorated and the beds are very comfortable. Bathrooms are not large but have a wonderful shower and heated floors. The common rooms are large, well-appointed and comfortable. You will be impressed with the backyard landscaping. Dean & Jeffrey are wonderful hosts (pleasant, accommodating, yet unobtrusive). Breakfast? Yummy!! Not only is the food wonderful; but you have the option of selecting not only what you want to eat - but the time you want to eat and where (dining room, your room, deck). [They also set out a bottle of wine in the early evening in the library for guests to enjoy.] Never have I left a B & B wanting to return - until now.

Lovingly restored to its grandeur, the McCormick House is truly a gem in the Northwoods. With its clean, simple, sophisticated, modern decor, guests will be pampered graciously. The proof is in the details. From the finely restored radiators to the fixtures on the faucets, to the bed linens, every bit of the home has a touch of elegance and class. You won’t need to sacrifice any of the luxuries. The owners’ love of travel is artfully displayed throughout their home. I can’t begin to describe the gourmet breakfast guests are served every morning, it’s definitely not a meal to miss. Guests are given several options for breakfast including a traditional English breakfast. Freshly brewed coffee can be delivered to your room for those earlier risers. Jeff and Dean are such a delight along with their 3 adorable “kids” Miss Georgie, Miss Freddie, and Spike.

Always the perfect concierge, Jeff gave us some insightful suggestions during our stay.
I find myself without words in trying to capture the experience of this place. You’ll have to experience it yourself. We would highly recommend a stay at the McCormick House.

Love,

Ken & Tuti

We've been to the McCormick house many times, and go back as often as we can. The owners Dean and Jeff are great hosts and have remodeled this historic mansion to incredible beauty and style. Every time we visit, we come back with an idea for our own home and yard. The interior is a wonderful blend of Olde English, contemporary, and Asian. The grounds are immaculate, impeccable. The backyard is a formal English garden with pond and fountain. Overlooking the garden is a deck with hot tub. In the morning, you get a fantastic breakfast (the English breakfast is my favorite). Dean and Jeff also got us hooked on our favorite night spot in Hayward: the Pavillion Wine Cave on the main street. Great music by the owner Molly (formerly of Molly and the Haymakers). The night we went was bellydancing night- so much fun!
