Westphal Mansion Inn was my first exposure to B&B, and it was great. It's unlikely that you will find a better option in Hartford for business or leisure lodging. I stayed in the F. Scott Fitzgerald suite and enjoyed every minute of it.
Garrett & Pam are very kind and hospitable innkeepers. If the history of the Inn intrigues you during your stay, you can learn interesting tidbits from them both. I travelled alone, but was kept in good company and conversation. This far surpassed the motel options in town.
Breakfast was excellent. First course was a warm pear half and croissant. Afterward, Pam somehow read my mind and knew that I liked spinach & tomato omelettes. They also served me a great chocolate mousse dessert, which went really well with fresh brewed coffee.
Bottom line is that I will go out of my way to stay here again whenever I return to Hartford. Thank you, Garrett & Pam. Job well done.
