My wife and I were at an evening event here in mid-August. The food was catered by Bartolotta's and was spectacular (though word has it Zilly's will be taking over food service here soon). We decided to take a walk around the gardens to see what we could see. I'd been here a couple times in the past for events, but never had the opportunity to tour as much as this evening. My impression is that this is a moderately large-sized garden with many, many types of unusual and beautiful plants that are well-labelled. It does appear maintennce of the area has taken a hit recently as things are just a little desheveled with deadheads and dead branches and leaves showing up. The rose area was very beautuful and interesting. Some of the rose blooms are just so intense in their coloration. Some of the roses look absolutely flourescent. It was sad that many of the rose blossoms had mulitple beetles right in their centers. Again, that may be a budgetary issue or maybe the time of the year. This is an interesting place to tour and right in your backyard if you're from the Milwaukee area.
