“Best there is”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed December 5, 2012

This experience and atmosphere was like no other, the play was amazing and the actors exceptional. The food was pretty good, hoping the main option was a little more diverse, but the alternates for more money were rather delicious.

“Scrooge, The Musical”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 3, 2012

In a word - Exceptional! This was our first time at Fireside and I must say, we were completely impressed. Wasn't sure I would like the stage in the center set-up, but I ended up loving it, maybe even preferring it to a typical arrangement. Performances, singing, props and costumes were all great. Dinner was good, apparently the menu changes with the production. I don't particularly think it's a good idea to only offer one entree option though. I found that strange. Fortunately, we like chicken and the quality of the meal was quite good. However, I think I will come for a matinee next time, served buffet-style, to ensure more choices. Service was perfect. Everything inside was beautifully decorated for the holiday. We enjoyed browsing the shops, lots of Christmas ornaments and such. I took a friend who was visiting from out of town and by the end of the evening, we had decided that this is something we'd like to do every time she's in town. So maybe a new tradition has been born. Definitely worth the price for a good meal and a wonderfully entertaining experience. Highly recommend!

“If you are contemplaing Scrooge: The Musical ... GO!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 30, 2012

We just went to Scrooge: The Musical for my mom's birthday and we just love every return trip to the Fireside. This time was no exception. The food was great (although the diningroom decor is very very dated) and the atmosphere is warm and cozy. The show was the highlight of the evening!! The gentleman who plays Scrooge was GREAT!!! Wonderful choice Fireside, and thanks for making a great memory!

“Wonderful experience”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 12, 2012

I have gone to the fireside twice this year. Once for 9-5 and just recently for Scrooge. I first have to say that I ordered 12 tickets. It's nice because for every 3 tickets you order, you get one free so it worked out with the party of 12 women that we had. The women I spoke to on the phone was so very helpful. I had many questions about the seating arrangements, best place to sit, getting all people in one row together, etc. She was very patient and answered all my questions very well.

The dinner is just excellent. Each time we went, we were given bread, appetizer, main course and dessert. The breads are excellent and very fresh. The appetizer we had this time for Scrooge was shrimp and scallops in a white sauce with croutons-excellent! The main course was chicken breast, breaded with mushrooms, onions, bacon with cheese on top. On the side was sweet potatoes with pecan crust on top. On the side was edamame, corn and red pepper. It was all excellent!! For desert it was a chocolate cake with apricot filling and home made black cherry ice cream. All the food was delicious. Our server was excellent! She was very helpful and described each course in detail. Everyone really enjoyed dinner. They also have an excellent drink menu which were reasonably priced. The atmosphere in the dining room is very cozy, especially when it is decorated for Christmas.

The play itself was so entertaining. The actors are very talented and it kept my interest. Both 9-5 and Scrooge were excellent. Our family enjoyed 9-5 so much that we now are making this a tradition to go at least once a year. The facility is wonderful as well since it is handicapped accessible.

Overall, you must go. The cost is around 65.00. For wonderful food and a great show, you can't go wrong. They also have fish fry's and special dinners there as well without a show.

“Great Food, Great Entertainment”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 5, 2012

We are from Eastern Iowa and have been to The Fireside 5 or 6 times in the past 8 years or so. We have NEVER gone away disappointed with ANY part of our experience. We have been to 3 other dinner theaters that use the traditional method of "dinner and show" from the dining tables. We much prefer Fireside's method of a separate dining area allowing for traditional theater seating in the auditorium. With the stage area in the center, surrounded by the seating area, you would be hard put to find a bad seat in the entire house. Best of all, there is no having to find just the right way to position your chair to watch the show, without having your legs cramped or having to constantly peer around someones head causing a crick in your neck and you are NOT stuck sitting in a straight back chair for the entire dinner and show. The food is the best of ANY other dinner theater we have been to. We have done the buffet twice and even it was on par with individual servings from a fine restaurant. We just went to to see "Scrooge, The Musical" on Saturday evening. Every one of the 5 courses were excellent. We were not rushed in any way to finish. After dining a person can go to the bar area to relax or stroll through the nice gift shops prior to the show. The quality of the entertainment is also the best from our perspective and experience with the other dinner theaters we have been to. They seem to spare no expense with costumes and affects for the show. The individual actors are VERY good! Overall, we love the Fireside and we will be back. Fort Atkinson is a nice medium size town that is easy to get around in. This makes for a nice two or three day weekend trip for us any time of the year.
