“Spa Package”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed March 18, 2013

If traveling in the winter months, Get a Spa package. The Spa will charge you $25 per day, to use the spa ammenities, like the nicer pool, jacuzzi, sauna, etc. unless you actually purchased a spa package with your stay.

The rest of the Abbey is just OK and is nothing compared to the Spa facilites/ammentities..

The Prime Rib buffet (with crab legs) and champagne brunch, both at Fontana Grill, were definitetly worth it and delicious, despite us having our doubts to spend $30 on both. They both included drinks/coffee, and the waiting staff will do anything they can to make sure you are content...

However there was a lack of options of places to eat. Porto was recently closed, and still shows as active on the website...

Was looking for something that was NOT Fontana Grill (since we planned to eat at Fontana Grill both Sat and Sun), nor the Bar-Food esq at the Waterfront to eat on Friday, and there was no other options so we had to eat at Waterfront, which was just OK. Salad and soup were great, but the main entre's were just average.

The rooms were clean, service was great, Late night s'mores was a delicous, and would have been even nicer to hang out at the bonfire, if it wasn't in the 20's degrees at night.

The Lake was froze over, and people were Ice fishing, which was crazy to see. We were able to walk on the Lake ourselves, and that was definelty an exciting RUSH to do.

Saturday, after our Spa treatments, we drove over to Geneva to go to Studio Winery (found it on TripAdvisor). Such a great small-bar type winery, that had live music, great wine, and great company! We did the wine tasting for only $5 or $10, which brough us 4 or 5 tastings of their current wines. You can also purchase by the glass for $5 each (we got 1 glass each after the tasting). You can bring food, or purchase from a small selection of delicous cheese and sausage, while you can also buy freshly made baguettes from them to eat with your cheese and sausage..

Dear djrex,

We greatly appreciate your taking the time to write a review about the wonderful time that you had during your recent stay here at the Abbey Resort and Spa. It is always important for us to receive feedback from our valued guests.

Our Spa does indeed have a very unique setting with the plentiful space that we have in our pool atrium area. We have a loyal set of customers who return to visit year after year. We will be sure to pass along your compliments to our culinary team regarding how much that you enjoyed our fabulous prime rib buffet. Many of our guests also comment about how much they enjoy our proximity to Lake Geneva shopping and pubs but that they like the fact that our resort is located on the "quiet" end of the Lake.

We hope that you will be able to return to visit us again in the near future.

Sincerely yours,
John Morris

I love everything about this resort. The outdoor and indoor pool are great. There are activities for children and families. We go at least once a year. We are never disappointed. The pools are clean and so are the public bathrooms. There is plenty of room to play! One evening they even had smores out by the fire pit. It is a retreat for all ages.

Room Tip: There is a nice playground right across the street. The kids love to venture over there after a day...

We have been to the Abbey a few times now and it provides the perfect getaway for us. We particularly enjoy the friendliness and courtesy of all of the staff. Everyone from Housekeeping to Maintenance seems to have a smile on their face and the atmosphere is very laid back which makes it easy to relax. The desk staff and the Concierge are all extremely courteous and helpful and the staff at the Spa are all very attentive. It is an easy drive from the resort into Lake Geneva but it is so much more relaxing to stay at the Abbey than to stay in Lake Geneva. We enjoy the amenities at the resort, although there is certainly less to do there when the weather is not accommodating. The food at both the Fontana Grill and the Waterfront is very good and not outrageously priced and there are other restaurants within walking distance as well if you feel like getting a little more variety. There are also activities near the resort that are fun and educational, including the Yerkes Observatory in neighboring Williams Bay. The Abbey is the perfect place for a long weekend although we have done longer stays there as well. The rooms are quite nice and they are very clean and maintained really well. The common areas are great for reading or for people watching and the whole facility just has a welcoming vibe to it. We will definitely be back.

Beautiful, sparkling clean facility. Wonderful pool, whirlpools and saunas included....you should be there now! Really nice staff. Pretty even in the snow. They even had a firepit to make s'mores :)
Cozy beds. Food in the Fontana Grill was very good, and reasonably priced. We went for an overnight, and it felt like a vacation!

We have been coming to the Abbey for years and each time it gets better and better.

The winter getaway was fantastic and especially a huge hit with the kids. The friendly staff and updated accomodations and dining make this retreat special.

The activities for our kids were awesome -skating, sledding, pool and games.

Room Tip: Call in advance to get a second floor harbor view !

My daughter brought 2 friends to celebrate her birthday. The room was very clean and comfortable...not much for them to do or go to in and around the hotel. The pool was nice. The hallways (many) are a little chilly. Overall, it was a pleasant experience.
