“Outstanding, didn't want to leave.”

We stayed at the main house during the week after Labor day (great time to visit, not so crowded). I was very pleasantly surprised by the facility. It is an old house and my expectations were commensurate with its age. But we had a very nice room with a Jacuzzi and a shower. The bedroom itself was decorated in the period, as was the rest of the house. The only real modern conveniences were in the bathroom, where they should be!

I was again very pleasantly surprised at the breakfast. The sign said “served from 8:30 to 10:00” so I didn’t take any great pains to get there right at 8:30. But my wife came an got me and said “we’re eating now”. This was a full sized “farm” style breakfast. If you ate everything available you would be good for the whole day!

The house is located about 2 or 3 blocks from the water. And about ¾ miles from the Peninsula State park where I ran every morning, which was also awesome!

All in all, super nice and the staff was great. I would love to stay there again.

This was our second trip to Door County and second stay at Thorp House Inn. The first was over Memorial Day weekend with my wife 7 months pregnant. We stayed in one of the beautiful cottages and turned what was supposed to be a 3-day weekend into a 5-day because we enjoyed the town and cottage so much. The owners, Melanie and Leela, really took care of us, much like they do every part of the B&B. It's impeccably clean, well-manicured and gives you the feeling you're right at home.

This was certainly the case again when we returned last week with our new bundle in tow. We stayed in a different but even more charming cottage (#5) and enjoyed our nightly wine on the terrace and fireplace after dinner.

Can't recommend this place enough if you want a relaxing weekend in Door County!

We spent three wonderful nights at the inn. We stepped back in time the moment we walked through the front door. A refreshing change from the "box motel room". Each contact with the innkeeper was pleasant and we wanted for nothing. Breakfast was delicious and the kitchen decor was charming. We are already planning a return trip next fall.

Room Tip: The Jessie faces the street and is bright and cherry with 4 full size windows. The Emma has a spect...

We had a lovely three night. The inn itself, though a historic landmark, is in great shape and has elegant décor. All the staff members were very friendly and courteous. And the location in Fish Creek is great for getting anywhere you would want to go in Door County. If there were any drawback, it would be that having more of a variety for breakfast would be nice.

Just enough off the beaten path to make this a quiet stay but close enough to walk to everything in Fish Creek. We stayed in the Wren cottage which was lovely. The only drawback was the bathroom only had a shower that was quite small. Would definitely stay at this place again and try another cottage. The inn keepers were also very nice and helpful.

The Thorp House was the perfect setting for my wife and I to clean up and relax after spending the first half of our honeymoon camping. The accommodations are clean and quaint, but in no way does the historical inn feel small. All around you can see, touch, read, and experience the history of the town of Fish Creek and the significance of the Thorp House. The folks in taking care of the inn and cottages do a brilliant job of making you feel right at home. The breakfasts are impeccable in presentation and flavor. If you are looking for a spot to relax the library is full of fascinating books and the owner keeps a open snack bar filled with cookies, coffees, teas, and hot chocolates. If you mention that you are celebrating your honeymoon or anniversary they may even surprise you! Overall a wonderful experience and we will be visiting again.

The house is average. The hostesses were extremely nice and helpful. We never met the owner, she was busy with family (I guess too busy). Would have been nice for her to introduce herself. The room we stayed in (Jessi) was large with a whirlpool in the bedroom sitting area and a very nice bathroom but no place to put your toiletries. Small paper cups instead of glasses in the sink area. The bed was very comfortable with very nice bedding, But the chairs....................they were "antiques (?) and, unless you are a very short person, you will feel like you are sitting on the floor. A few of the other rooms were "tiny". If you are a senior, or a person who doesn't like stairs, you will hate these. They are very steep ant the stairs are very narrow, not like a regular stars. Not in the width of the staircase but in the depth. They are extremely tough to climb. Their "breakfast" leaves a lot to be desired (an I glad that we brought something else to eat). It was comprised of some very delicious muffins with, in our opinion, some awful eggstrada. If you know what that is and like that kind of food, I'm sure you will love it. Almost nobody ate it while we were there. The fresh fruit as good. The location to shopping is great and only a short walk to the beach. Lots of great eating places but most of them are very pricey.
