“lovely Inn! I will visit again if have the chance to.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 26, 2012

Located in the center of Fish Creek
We have only praise for this place.
Strongly recommend.
Rooms are clean and beautiful.
Excellent service
Rich breakfast, homey and delicious.
Especially we would like to emphasize the warmth and inviting care of Layla, the innkeeper.
The only downside - central air condition, so there is no control from the room, but it can be directed out of the room.

Beautiful home and grounds. EXCELLENT location - couldn't be beat! Right where you want to be. Great staff; very nice people. Available when needed but never put an ounce of pressure on us for anything. We felt very welcome there. Room was small(er) as to be expected (wasn't our first time in a B&B), but it was a really nice room and very well maintained. Was impressed with how well the facility overall is maintained. I travel for work a LOT, and this is a very nice place. On the pricey side, but considering the location it shouldn't come as a shock to anyone. highly recommend. Next time we're in Door County we won't stay anywhere else.

This was our second time in Door County (our son goes to a music camp in Egg Harbor). Last year we'd stayed in a B&B in Sturgeon Bay, which was very nice, and less expensive, but Fish Creek is a much better location. From Thorp House you can easily walk to a number of great restaurants, from casual to elegant to traditional Door County Fish Boil, as well as many shops.

The house itself is beautiful, tastefully decorated with beautiful antiques. It was awfully nice to be able to sit out on the large covered porch in the morning with my cup of coffee and a book while my wife was still sleeping.

We split our stay between two rooms. The first two nights were in the Emma, which had a large, comfortable canopy bed, and various antiques. There wasn't any closet, although there was a coat rack you could use, but there was a spacious nook to put our suitcases. There was also a large bathroom with a gorgeous 2-person whirlpool tub under a skylight. And since I'm sure you are wondering, yes, if you turn off all the lights, you can see the stars through the skylight- lovely and romantic.

Our final night we spent in the Eliza, a considerably smaller (and cheaper) room downstairs. It certainly wasn't as elegant as the Emma, although there was a walk-in closet, it was plenty nice, and cheaper than most chain hotels. It was also nice that they moved our bags to the new room for us after they were cleaned.

I always worry about whether the rooms will be quiet when I stay at a B&B, but no problems here. And despite unusually extreme heat, the rooms were comfortable.

Breakfast was good, not great. There was fresh fruit which was always good, followed by a personal-sized egg strata (which varied by day- a southwest one time, artichoke the next). The stratas allowed the guests to eat when they chose (between 8:30 and 10) rather than having a preset time that everyone needed to be there. There were also muffins, which were fair, as well as granola and yogurt available. Certainly decent food to get you going for the day, but not memorable.

The owner was friendly and interesting to talk to. Due to the open breakfast hours, we didn't end up sitting with other guests most of the time, but Melanie kept us company.

We would absolutely come back here again.

I had high hopes since this was the first place and our first time in Door County. I really wanted to like this place. The location is excellent. The house itself was pretty, but the room was very small for the price IMO. The owner seemed put out that we were there 45 min before the check in time of 3:00. She gave us no info, didn't talk to us much, and didn't seem at all interested. If I had guests staying with me, I'd at least ask them how they found me, what they were planning to do, etc.....anyway, she may have had an off day. I probably wouldn't go back since I found another B&B in Door County that I found to be much better in every aspect.

Fish Creek is amazing and this place isn't at all bad, just not great.

The Thorpe House cottages have become our home away from home. The setting makes you feel like you're deep in the woods while being only steps to the Fish Creek shops, restaurants, and beach. They are definitely a gem.

Room Tip: We stay in the Lark cottage which is perfect for a family of four. The 2nd bedroom is great for sma...

Last minute trip to Fish Creek with my daughter. We stayed overnight on the 3rd of July. We stayed in Maria. The bed was very comfortable with nice soft linens. The inn was extremely clean, nicely decorated and furnished. After a long day it was nice to sit on the covered porch in the rocking chairs reading, drinking tea and eating a homemade cookie. You do need to wake up early to get freshly brewed coffee (which was excellent).

Room Tip: There was no fitness room or pool, my rating needs to be deleted. Perfect location for staying in Fi...
