We researched many campgrounds in Wisconsin. One of the last few we looked at was Lake Hilbert Campground in Fence, Wisconsin(near Goodman, WI) We then chose this as the location to place our camper on a seasonal site.
They have large sites with full hook-ups. Store/restaurant that is open Thursday - Sunday. Great breakfast and Friday night fish-fry! I can't say it enough that everyone in the campground is friendly & they treat you like family! Very unusual for someone to drive by without the acknowledgment "wave".
This is an ATV friendly campground with access to the ATV trails in northern Wisconsin. The quad owners are very respectful when going through the camp site, at only 5 mph.
The campsite is under new ownership this year, which means many more updates. The owners are younger and motivated. The campers who have been there 7+ years as seasonal seem very pleased so far.
The campground shares access with the public boat launch & beach on Lake Hilbert. I had lived in the area 20+ years ago and can confirm that this is one of the most beautiful & well maintained beaches in the north woods! Plenty of room with basketball & volleyball nets as well for family outings.
They do have small cabins for rent at the campground. Please note that these are "small". What I like most about this campsite is the trees! Even though they have 100+ campsites, you still feel secluded with all of the beautiful full-grown trees.
We are looking forward to boating on Lake Hilbert this summer and enjoying a wonderful fireworks show on July 4th!
